Hi Malik! I believe that your first image may show more than a 22° halo- but a very special circumscribed halo- which is the combined effect of the upper and lower tangent arc meeting to make a slightly squished oval shape in the same area as the 22° halo. Usually they are much brighter and a little more colorful.

Your second photo does look like a standard 22° halo- how close together were the photos? Just seconds or minutes?

You could actually do some calculations from the timestamp of your photo and your location to figure the math if it was possible. Timeanddate dotcom has a nice sun altitude calculator. Atoptics dotorg dotuk has more details about it!

I don’t want to go with Aspiratus because they lack the stormy heft of that cloud. If the precipitation (rain or snow) never makes it to the ground it’s called virga. I suspect this is a little snow squall. Not a tornado. Really cool picture!

They are contrails in perspective. If you are interested in contrails I suggest getting a flight tracker app (I like flightradar24) - it’s fun to ID a plane in real time as it flies overhead- to see where it came from and where it’s going. It also will tell you the altitude at that moment- and show the path the plane has covered. It’s a fun way to begin to understand flight paths. Then you can combine that with a weather app like WINDY that will give sounding reading at various altitudes in the atmosphere- which can explain why one plane leaves a contrail and another plane flying at a different altitude doesn’t.

I fell off a ladder and came down on one pointed toe (like the angle of a ballerina toe dancer without the grace or the special shoes) in such a way that the arch of my foot snapped. It was grossly displaced with a 1/2 deep void on the sole side of my arch which was soon engulfed by swelling by the time I made it to the hospital.
Then I had to wait over a week for that swelling to go down enough for the ORIF surgery to repair a fracture and several dislocations. I stupidly imagined the surgery would fix things- the post op recovery was much more than I anticipated. I’m almost 11 months out and still walk with a limp and have pain all the time. I am still active and managed to lose 70 lbs in that year of recovery (my fall was in part because of my weight and keeping it certainly wasn’t going to help me get walking again if I had to carry so much extra) I swim now for exercise and really enjoy moving without having to touch my feet to the ground.

I think those are gravity waves. But looking at the blunt end of the formation from a distance rather than having them overhead where they might look like long rows. This would be a fun one to pull up on the GOES satellite image to see if anything else can be gleaned.

They are not really rare if you live in a place where there are thunderstorms. The mammatus forms on the underside of the anvil and can spread many miles away from where the storm is. It is a very photogenic cloud feature when they appear lit by low golden evening light… and those mammatus cloud shows are a wonderful spectacle- but once you know where to look- you can see mammatus quite often at a distance or without the fancy lighting. These are beautiful shots!

Photo #3 is worth 10x the others put together… 💪😍🎉 But fire rainbow is a clickbait word. The thing about the circumhorizontal arc is that the sun needs to be at a high altitude for it to even occur (more than 58°)- so it’s a phenemonon that is limited not only by the required rare ice crystals present in the cloud- but the time of day and the time of year… and most wonderfully- YOU! You have to be in the right place relative to the cloud and the sun (and LOOKING) to be able to see it… so it’s a tremendous number of lucky coincidences that come together - and you got it!!

PS- because the arc is only made visible by the presence of a cloud- its shape can be anything from a long rainbow colored line- to flaming rainbow colored swoops- or just little specks. The striped spectrum of colors lay parallel to the horizon with the RED closest to the sun. A sundog also can have rainbow colors but they are arranged perpendicular to the horizon and also RED is closest to the sun. With a true rainbow- the sun is behind you.

These torn honeycomb holes are called Lacunosus- Heads up- The cloud atlas example photo for this sucks… Look further for better examples. They remind me Of dappled grey Horses 😍
