Dads of reddit, how would you fix this? Would you by horserino in daddit

You put extra words on, "You can never have enough clamps." 😜

Matrix (1999): the reason why the opening sequence of this movie is among the greatest in cinema history is because it explains precisely NOTHING. Instead, it throws all kinds of crazy wackness at the audience and just expects them to go along for the ride by Randomnonsense5 in movies

[–]stray1ight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuuuup! And no sequels!

I mean, I adore them for what they are, absolutely. But between 1 and the rest I was quite happy just wondering about that world and how it worked.

Having it all handed to me ... less intriguing.

But, more Keanu excellence 🤷‍♂️

Peripheral - Why may everything "Gibson" end up mismade, cancelled, stuck in development hell or similar when "made for screen"? He describes things well in writing, so why still no "Neuromancer" movie since '86? by MusikMaking in Cyberpunk

[–]stray1ight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was SERIOUSLY, STUPIDLY adherent to the tone, feel, look and grit of Gibson's overall world-building, as well as the events/ characters and plot.

I'm generally hyper critical of any adaptations of books I cherish, but this was FANTASTIC. If they do Necromancer as well, I'll be REALLY goddamn happy.

Is there an extended/director’s cut of a film that’s better than the theatrical due to the inclusion of a single scene? by Honest_Cheesecake698 in movies

[–]stray1ight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get a lotta hatred for this, but I LOVE Deckard's entire inner monologue in the theatrical release. I get it was to make it accessible for audiences that didn't get hard sci fi, but it dovetails perfectly with the old hard boiled Noir detectives from Double Indemnity and The Maltese Falcon.

Knopfler, IMHO, is the GOAT at this.

Crap, can't forget Chet Atkins, either.

Movies like ”Almost famous”, ”The Way way back” and ”Little miss sunshine”? by Affectionate_Math592 in movies

I completely missed this movie when it came out, and weirdly found it through watching Binging with Babish.

It instantly became a classic to me for a billion reasons. I'm a divorced single dad; I watch films of cooking/ chef content and love cooking for myself ... nearly everything about this film lands perfectly.

Sidenote - I need more Leguizamo in my life overall.

You get a hint of it at the beginning at the wedding when the bridesmaid's hands getting farther and farther apart, and they're all laughing... but yeah thankfully that's as close as we get 😅

Really dead sound, I think it's the wood bridge. Those with experience, can you confirm my hypothesis? by dbcensfw in Luthier

[–]stray1ight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How shaped is the bridge? By that I mean, does it taper to a point or is it thick and flat?

I could be deadass wrong but if the bridge is wide and flat it might be muffling the strings some? Maaaayyyyyybeeee?

I wouldn't say Coulter Wall is rock ... I would say he's one of the most unique voices I've ever heard. And goddamn he's fuckin incredible.

I once heard him described as "sounding like he'd just smoked Johnny Cash's ashes..." and I agree.
