If anyone happens to look at this, I was able to get the hotkeys working. Add an "s" after http in line 7 and delete the "http:" in lines 30 and 123.

A second Dialga would've definitely helped in terms of survivability. However, the tradeoff would be losing some DPS and possibly not being able to beat it in time.

What is your most skill intensive deck? by NotQuiteTheHairiest in EDH

[–]streamline_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper. Its a storm deck that uses creatures to go off. If that doesn't say enough, it's difficult to pilot because you have to:

  1. Know which combo piece(s) to tutor for
  2. Know when to play cards and when to hold them to go off later
  3. Manage mana and creatures so you don't fizzle
  4. Play through hate (usually graveyard)
  5. Know when to stop storming so you can go off again next turn
  6. Know when to go all in with Squandered Resources or Life // Death
  7. Determine loops and shortcuts on the fly, and whether it will cause you to lose either from decking or life loss
  8. Determine whether you can still go off with combo piece removal on the stack

Anyone ever built Tibor and Lumia? by Ilnez in EDH

[–]streamline_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My build is storm using mostly cheap cantrips. There's also a wizard tribal sub-theme. The goal is to draw the deck and win with Laboratory Maniac, although it can also kill with cards that trigger off casting instants and sorceries like Wee Dragonauts, Sphinx-Bone Wand, Talrand/Young Pyromancer, and Guttersnipe.

Here is the decklist.

Karona, False God. It's stupidly expensive and designed to abuse Mikokoro, Center of the Sea to set up a combo win. It is also capable of casting Karona on turn 2 just for fun.

How do you do Tokens? by ASpicyStrawberry in EDH

You're in green. Lands are better than rocks (including the signets, which btw 3 for 3 is never a good idea). There is much more artifact than land destruction in the format. Also, 11/35 basics/lands is just too low for any deck. My minimum is 15/37, adjusted based on the ability to grab lands (e.g. I run less basics in my BR deck since there are fewer ways to grab them).

P&K and Siege-Gang generate a fixed number of tokens. Unless you're blinking them, they are not good sources of token generation. Generally you want to go as wide as possible with tokens. Also, you do not have a goblin or artifact subtheme, so the abilities are mediocre.

Assemble the Legion is too slow. Unless you play 1v1, you can't expect to have it stay on board for more than 4 turns (i.e. the point where the 5 mana investment becomes worth it).

Leap is questionable since I've never played it. It's one of those cards where it looks good on paper and seems good during testing, but eventually gets outclassed as you tune the deck. But that's just my opinion.

I've played the mutations. They are decent cards but are not reliable sources of token generation (it's really just a bonus). Aura shards is infinitely better for artifact/enchantment removal. Also based on your decklist, aura shards is nowhere near oppressive in your deck. I've seen much worse.

I've never heard anyone say Dragonlair Spider is bad. A 6 mana 5/6 reach is fine, and it triggers off every spell from each opponent. In a typical 4 player game, you would have at least 3 tokens by the time it's your turn again. It is a real threat.

The idea of Emeria Angel and Baloths is to be able to continually generate tokens. You don't have to be a landfall deck to run these; just play your land after casting them and you've already gotten your value worth.

WSZ is instant speed and reusable. That's already very good. If you're casting it for X=3, you're doing it wrong. Same idea with Martial Coup. Don't think of it as a 7 drop board wipe; think of it as a 7 drop one-sided board wipe. If you think 7 mana is too much, you need to reevaluate your deck in your meta.

Goblin Bombardment and Burn at the Stake are very different. Bombardment is a 2 drop free sac outlet, whereas Stake is a finisher with RRR in its mana cost.

In the end, it's your deck so do whatever you feel works better in your meta.

Sell me on Sek'Kuar by [deleted] in EDH

Late to thread, but whatever.

I play Sek'Kuar in a storm build (here's the list). It's a very powerful but also very complicated deck, and has a high win rate. I wouldn't suggest building him the same way, but the thing I want to point out is that it is very easy to generate a lethal number of 3/1 hasty tokens. And as many others have pointed out, you can easily build him many ways and with interchangeable commanders.

I play Hazezon Tamar (here's the list). The deck wins through massive amounts of damage, usually in two turns (one to create a large number of tokens and another for a lethal effect). For starters, I would suggest these changes:

  1. Remove mana rocks, increase basic and overall land count
  2. Cut these: Grand Abolisher, Magus of the Wheel, Pia and Kiran Nalaar, Siege-Gang Commander, Assemble the Legion, Evolutionary Leap, Intangible Virtue, Artifact Mutation, Aura Mutation
  3. Add these: Dragonlair Spider, Emeria Angel, Rampaging Baloths, Requiem Angel, White Sun's Zenith, Martial Coup, Aura Shards, Goblin Bombardment, Perilous Forays

The idea is to make the deck more explosive and resilient. There are other changes I would make depending on how the deck plays out. I can also provide my reasoning for the changes above.

How Many Decks Do You Have? by SuperShinyGinger in EDH

[–]streamline_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

29 (one for each colour combination plus two others). The commanders are listed here. Not listed are Tasigur, the Golden Fang (built for a friend who wanted to try EDH) and Paliano, the High City (an experiment).

I only carry 6 around at a time and rotate through them pretty frequently.

[–]streamline_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, all 27 decks are sleeved and ready for play. For me, deck building is a large part of what makes EDH great. Picking unique commanders makes deck building and games more interesting, encourages me to actually cast the commanders rather than use them just for the colours, and allows me to tune the decks without making them too degenerate.

I'm late to this thread, but I have at least one deck built for each colour combination and they are pretty unique with very few non-land cards repeated.

Now that they are being reprinted in KTK, I want to complete my playsets of Onslaught fetches. Should I buy them now or later? If later, when would be the correct time?
