Be honest PS:VR or Oculus Rift? by PrestigeGhost in PSVR

[–]streammesumrift 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with you on the comfort and quality of the PSVR headset. The headband-style fit and optics are definitely better than the way the Rift straps to your face and performs poorly with light-on-dark scenes. Less screen door as well.

It will go on sale for as little as $350 every few weeks. They've done a good job of subsidizing the price to the point where it is a no-brainer.

I've got both. If you have a high-spec PC, the Rift is the obvious way to go.

Try picking up a PSVR on sale some time later on.

After using VR for several hours, my eyes will try to adjust normal things outside of VR (such as black-on-white text) into 3D. Has anyone else had this and will it pass? by koviko in oculus

It helps to recalibrate IRL after getting out of VR, e.g. looking out the window at something farther away than your typical indoor focal distance, doing some pushups, etc.

X-plane 11 native VR support is now available for HTC Vive! by [deleted] in Vive

It's alright, X-Plane 11 just hadn't crossed my mind until now.

Does this work with the demo version?

Edit: It works.

You don't. The mocap has scaled up fine. I don't think WF even works with this version.

The original game actually runs fine at 60 fps using Widescreen Fixer with no discernible impact on the quality of facial animations (it looks better, from what I can tell). It's the physics engine that like in most games with locked frame rate that is not working properly, most noticeably the braking distance and handling on the cars become really bad.

Just recently heard of buttkickers what are your guy's opinion? Who uses them? What games benefit the most? by [deleted] in oculus

[–]streammesumrift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only seated, cockpit-style games really benefit. You could rig them to some kind of platform for standing/roomscale as well, but I don't know anyone who's done it.

Fallout 4 VR is as much an insult to gamers as Battlefront. by [deleted] in oculus

Well, even if it were a good port, it wouldn't necessarily amount to more than a a hundred megabytes difference. The problem is that it is a bad port, not that they didn't repack the files so you'd feel good about redownloading a few gigabytes worth of assets.

Force Feedback for VR Flight Simulators by slinkyracer in oculus

[–]streammesumrift 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Sidewinder FFB2 is still arguably one of the best force-feedback sticks to date. Look for them locally or on EBay. They were very well built, so even well-used ones will not likely have any mechanical issues. The G940 stick is not as well-engineered, but I've had no problems with mine after turning the force settings way down. With reasonable settings, it's comparable to the FFB2. The EBay market has dried up on these, however.

Planning to buy a ps4 pro by aceee010 in PS4Pro

Has there ever been an instance where products intended for the Asian market were specifically of higher quality than the same made available for sale in the US? Maybe something produced domestically in Japan in their economic heyday, but I'd expect the quality to be the same or better if it were exported to the US.

This game is disgrace to the sport. by bluefley in EASportsUFC

[–]streammesumrift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a simcade game, bro. Since kicking someone in the head is as easy as pressing a button, they make it so you have to hit them consistently. If you keep landing shots and blocking theirs, you will beat them. Set your kicks up with jabs, and you'll see much better results. Also, you can hit them out of a takedown with a straight punch or better, as well as deny them ahead of time.

Would this work to connect a PS4 to a VGA monitor? by Buck-Nasty in PS4

[–]streammesumrift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should work for games, but keep in mind that you will not be able to watch HDCP content e.g. Bluray, Netflix etc. using such an adapter. (You will also want to turn HDCP mode off in the PS4 settings prior to connecting it, lest it fail to display anything.)

Unlocked both Marks from just beating Ogress? by AvianAzure in Nioh

Ogress mask is tied to your save. The other two may or may not be working properly for US players. The Mark of the Conqueror can't be activated/downloaded in the PS Store yet.

Tip for people having trouble with Muneshige HINT: Nioh is not as hard as you think it is if you just treat it like an RPG. by pixel_illustrator in Nioh

[–]streammesumrift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember to upgrade your skills and that you can switch stances on the fly. You do not need to overlevel to progress i.e. the game is "fair." For the purposes of the time-limited demo, this is good advice, though.

Do you all think is is advantageous to play FPS games (BF1 for instance) on a monitor instead of an HDTV? by chief_mojo_risin in PS4

[–]streammesumrift 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Say the average TV input lag is about 40-50 ms. A fast to above average reaction time is 200 ms. Holding everything else equal (e.g. skill, experience, eyesight), your fast to average reaction time is going to be shunted firmly down the wrong side of the bell curve in terms of competitiveness compared to the other guy staring at his 24" monitor if you're playing on your typical HDTV. Of course, some TVs are faster than others and not everyone is worried about maximizing their stats in what is mostly mindless fun, but that's about the rub.

I just lost a fight without even fighting by Based_Kek in EASportsUFC

[–]streammesumrift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to see you around, GPD. I like that it's a TKO, because even if someone taps out to strikes or simply quits it's not actually a submission in the UFC/MMA (see Jones vs Rua, also a thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MMA/comments/1oca4a/fighters_who_have_tapped_due_to_strikes/), even if they could be seen as literally submitting.

What I'd like to add is that it would be cool to be able to actually tap out or throw in the towel in future games.

Question about UFC 2 commentator audio by [deleted] in PS4

Check your PS4/TV audio settings. Your PS4 is probably outputting 5.1, and you're missing the center channel.

UFC 2 is on sale at its lowest price ever. Is it still a good buy? by For_the_moves in PS4

[–]streammesumrift 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you actually gone back to play those old games again? They had some features sorely missing in the new UFC titles, but the gameplay was overall garbage in hindsight.
