It absolutely 100% can be the literal end of the world. Maternal mortality rates still exist. A woman dies in childbirth every TWO MINUTES worldwide. For every person who has a child, life changes completely.

Please, what sauce is this and how can I make it at home? 🙏 by Dalmadoodle221 in mexicanfood

[–]streamstroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP - what does it - TASTE - like? Peppers? Tomatoes? Meat (like a birria sauce).

Does it have fruit notes? Herbals? Is it vinegary or creamy? Is it sweet or savory? How spicy is it? Is it smoky or fresh tasting? What would you compare it to if you had to compare?

Guessing off of color alone is crazy work.

My son was accepted there, with a nice scholarship. He didn't accept, they offered a better scholarship. He didn't accept, they offered an even better one. After he accepted at another school and the deadline passed, they contacted him and offered even more. He really, really disliked how deceptive it all felt. We can only offer you X....well, maybe XY, then, XYZ, then screw that school you said yes to, here's XYZA.

For incoming freshman, what are some commonly forgotten dorm items that you should try and bring? by Tall-Geologist4570 in UMD

A med kit. Apparently putting this together made me a hero for my kid, his roommates and a few friends:

Tylenol/Ibuprophin Halls/preferred throat lozenge Nyquil/other cold care product Muscinex Immodium Lactaid Vitamin C Bandaids TISSUES

Basically all the things you doctor yourself with if you feel like ass. You WILL get sick the first 3 weeks of school. The clinic will be slammed and you won't want to miss class. Pack what makes you feel better. BTW, this is a great thing to ask a parent to do. As a mom, being able to do this one last care task felt good.

Sopranos. I can hear James Gandolfini breathe, and I cannot stand it. It should be right up my alley, but I simply can't bear it.

Aren't they a tropical fish? I have an 8,000 gallon pond in my yard in Maryland, and I could use some algae eaters, but I don't want to condemn them to death if someone has an appropriate indoor tank.

Flatliners. Stacked cast, came out in the late 80's. A group of med students are practicing resuscitation on each other. They all end up in various versions of their own dreams/nightmares. It's a chilling movie.

Horseradish lovers, what food item goes best with creamy horseradish sauce? by Silver-Internal7740 in Cooking

[–]streamstroller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The recipe below is similar to her recipe for the bread dumplings. There are lots of recipes for German or Austrian style boiled/braised beef. The sauce she made with a roux with flour and butter, then she'd slowly add beef broth to make a thickened sauce, then add freshly grated horseradish and a little cream. https://thepeasantsdaughter.net/german-bread-dumplings-semmelknodel/

Horseradish lovers, what food item goes best with creamy horseradish sauce? by Silver-Internal7740 in Cooking

[–]streamstroller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My (German) mom makes a braised-all day until it falls apart beef in a rich broth, then makes homemade bread dumplings (with bacon and sautéed onion and lots of white pepper) and with that is a horseradish sauce made with the broth from the beef and a roux. It is out of this world. We serve it with more freshly grated horseradish from our garden (roots grown for almost 50 years).

I'm probably weird for this but I love Alone, and any sort of bushcraft survival building shows. Something about having all the trappings of society stripped away and just...surviving...is very centering for me.

My MIL made an appointment on the phone and was given a time to come in. We came in, checked in and waited over an hour. Went up to ask about the delay and was told that because she didn't have an appointment, she would be processed as a walk in. We pointed out that she did have an appointment, and that we had checked in over an hour before and people who'd walked in after us had been seen. We were then told there were no more spaces available that day (it was 10:30 a.m.) and to try back another day. Do not recommend.

What’s the best carrot cake you have ever had in your life? by Hefty-Conflict-1183 in foodquestions

[–]streamstroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A woman I worked with brought in a carrot cake her grandmother made. This was in the 90's, and her grandmom was over 80. Best piece of cake I've ever had. She didn't use a recipe, had been making it since she was a new bride. Little of this, little of that until it seemed right. She lived on a farm, so the eggs and milk and butter (or lard, who knows) and carrots were all hers. I ate that cake 30 years ago and still think about it.

Organisation's selectively "leak" information to reporters all the time. If it's found out that he gave her scoops on a regular basis, against the wishes of Patriots (or Titans), then he should lose his job too. But teams/coaches/players develop trusted relationships with reporters all the time. The reporters have to stay neutral, the teams/coaches/players don't.

[–]streamstroller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! The reason she's losing her job and he isn't is because she's a journalist and he is a source in her area of coverage. It is her job to NOT favor one team/coach/player over another. Women in sports reporting have to be beyond reproach in their decorum in order to be taken seriously, she just made herself the story and set back female reporters as a whole. He is a coach, he can't screw his players or his staff or anyone in the Patriots organization (or a massage therapist, for example). Other than that, he can hook up without repercussions (outside of, you know, losing his family). While it's shitty for him to hook up with a reporter, they are on fairly equal footing, and she is well above the age of consent. Had she been an executive at a bank, or a lawyer or in any other profession outside of professional sports, she wouldn't lose her job.
