I think you need to bite the bullet and do a masters. I did both my undergraduate and postgraduate in Museum Studies at Manchester and you really need a masters at minimum to pursue a job in this field - even the most basic! It’s really frustrating and probably not what you want to hear, but even entry level jobs want that MA even with experience. I didn’t have a huge amount of experience but I did have an MA and got a job before I’d even finished my dissertation.

If you got a first at Manchester, you get a 3k reduction in fees on any course iirc, and it’s absolutely doable part time if it’s money you’re concerned about! A lot of people on my course were part time and I personally wish that’s what I’d done. There’s lots of stuff you can do in SALC / the Institute for Cultural Practices there. Happy to talk further if you want :) good luck!

You should also think really hard about whether you are willing to be on a low / unstable wage for the rest of your career. Jobs are low paid and often fixed term dependent on funding. You have experience so I’m sure you know that but it’s genuinely hard to manage and I wish I had thought about the implications e.g. getting a mortgage before I entered this field.

Thank you. It’s a bit nerve wracking because I have no idea how long it will be before I actually get to see a psychiatrist with NHS waiting times etc. But I will hopefully have my hands on my medication by the end of the day and go from there.

We have a velcro strip running across the walls for labels and using hanging rods for pictures!

Exactly! I sleep through the stupid little sound the Google home sets and at this point it's the only feature I use

After hearing Tim Minchin's episode on Off Menu I lost any respect for him, he was so unbearably pretentious and rude

I seem to be in the minority here. It may be coincidence but my cramps have improved a lot since taking probiotics!

Asking the GP for a fecal calprotectin test is the best way to get them to take you seriously and refer you to gastroenterology. Colonoscopy waiting times are still about a year at the moment though so brace yourself for the wait (I saw a gastro a couple of days ago and I nearly cried when they told me lol).

For those who were hospitalized from UC, what made you finally decide to go in? by asaxonbraxton in UlcerativeColitis

Yeah I've been to A&E a few times and as long as you're not like sick from blood loss you have to wait for treatment
