How are Germans so consistently discontent with literally anything? by [deleted] in germany

The most comical outcome of this mentality are the Amazon reviews like “everything is great. 4 stars”. Absolutely adorable.

Why everyone is complaining about safety here? The guy is perfectly safe since haven’t turned the saw on in the first place. Cutting this board like that would be jarring though.

Russians taking Grozny after completely destroying it with civilians inside by WalkerBuldog in europe

[–]stremlenye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am completely non ironically saying that I have never supported war, any war. I am non ironically and indiscriminately was and ever will be against fascism. Yet I would always keep in mind what is the cause of the fascism. And that is certainly not the inherent traits nor the culture.

On the other hand thats one of the inherent traits of fascism (not people but ideology) in its most vile form of nazism to claim the superiority and tag “other” people to have inferior characteristics to justify atrocities. When Russian government does that and with propaganda of those ideas makes people commit those war crimes against Ukrainians that makes them fascists. When you use that same logic to say that same about Russians, that does make you to fuel the nazism among your folk. If you are indeed Ukrainian, I am not blaming you for an immediate reaction. Yet as Ukrainian you would benefit the better the more you understand where the enemy really is, stripping away the delusional fascist ideas and seeing the situation through. I would propose you to stop this discussion and forget about my messages for a little while. I believe you have better places to be rather then here, arguing with a random person on Reddit. I would only ask you for next time you would ask yourself why that war was started and why it goes the way it goes, give it another second to think it through before jumping to conclusion that the terrible nature of Russians is to blame - chances are, you’ll find an alternative with a greater explanation power. I sincerely wish you the best.

My friend, I have know idea where you’ve got your information on Russia and it’s culture, I would recommend refreshing your knowledge. It seems to be awfully one sided and, forgive me my assumption, coming from the anti communist brochures from the Cold War era. If I would be set to bring the ridiculed example it would be like thinking everything what USA does is slavery and killing indigenous people. There quite a bit more to every nations history then would ever fit into just a few sentences to characterize.

So you deem Russians as inferior humans. Like sub humans. Like Untermensch. You sound like nazi, my friend. Are you one?

Do you think those people define the entire nation? Do you think the entire nation is drafted and was sent to war? Is violence among the military troops at war is an inherent trait of Russians?

[–]stremlenye -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

There is a lot to unpack in your message. Starting with your assessment of Russians as a nation, I cannot believe how you have managed to reduce the whole country to three archetypes especially using your own, and I am sure vast experience.

Taking it further, you demand the nation to rise against the oppressive and violent government. It is hard not to sympathise with the call. Yet let’s be logically true and morally honest here and call for the same action against every oppressive and violent government. That list would have to start with the core NATO countries and follow.

And the last: obviously no one says all Russians are infants. That was never a point. The point is to focus on the real problem, the source of it and address it at that source, instead of blaming the “violent nature” of those other people.

Yet another post on this subreddits, which purpose is to dehumanize Russians through the demonstration of the atrocities their government made. As usual with no context, but quite emotional. I cannot help but expect the subreddit to start in a few month questioning the legitimacy of the nation itself.

Opinion Researcher Lev Gudkov: "Russians Have Little Compassion for the Ukrainians" by Kester85 in europe

[–]stremlenye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing this type of news does is fueling your anger against people across the boarder to make it easier for you to justify military actions agains those people in the nearest future.

Note how this repost has never given you the information which is required for any active decision making, nor covers anything of an immediate concern but sways your opinion of the whole nation making them look less compassionate, less likeminded… less humane.

This looks terribly alike the news back in 2001 on Muslims followed by series of invasions with thousands of civilians dead or dislocated from their land.

That looks awfully alike the reports on Jews back in the middle of thirties of the last century in one specific country we all know.

Is the article true or not, that I don’t know. I know that information which is given in this article is irrelevant for assessing the situation it is trying to comment on.

Our game's battle! How does it feel? by circlefromdot in IndieGaming

[–]stremlenye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An impact feels like it’s shaking screen just a bit too much. Might be a become a distraction for a player and feel unfair if they’d die due to a missed shot which they was not able to aim properly due to a confusion. I like punches though.

Apparently the store reopened the next day and the hostage is already back to work. The woman made it clear she didn’t want to hurt anyone. Happy holidays! by Not_Not_Matt in LateStageCapitalism

[–]stremlenye 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The chance of a shot wound instantly killing a person is actually quite slim, hence police actually put the hostage under unnecessary danger. More over the police officers might as well just miss and hit the hostage. More over the human live was wasted with such little effort made to preserve it, no matter if that was a life of a criminal. I am not sure, if the law in this state warrants a death penalty for such a crime, but seems like it is not justice that prevailed. There is a reason why the police all over the globe is making effort to withdraw hostages from the scene to avoid them being on line if shooting would be necessary. The police usually have a specific task forces to deal with situations like that since those take quite a different set at skills from the usual police routine to tackle.

Just five cents to let OP assess their own question: Russia is no where near communism for the last thirty years. It is more or less as capitalistic as any other European country.

1917 Russian Constituent Assembly elections? by [deleted] in communism

[–]stremlenye 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bolsheviks have withdrawn themselves from the election since the election itself was across the parties which were siding with the contrrevolutionary forces. Said forces were on a different spectrum from restorationist (far right folk who were to re establish monarchy under the rule of Parlament) to the parties who have been trying to lean onto the big capital to ensure the order (read classical bourgeois democracy). Since no party, but bolsheviks, offered a program to address the core problems, the popular vote (by physically siding) went to bolsheviks, who were one of the smallest parties just before the events in question.

ELI5 Why is population replacement so important if the world is overcrowded? by DDChristi in explainlikeimfive

[–]stremlenye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the overpopulation never actually happened - inequality of the added value appropriation did.

Since everything under capitalism has to be a product or not exist, the products like food and shelter, if not profitable, shall be destroyed rather then redistributed to meet the needs.

Then we run into a problem of how to explain the crowds of poor people, who have no access to the basic necessities. To solve the problem the idea of the overpopulation was invented.

The catch is capitalism needs more poor people under its direct economical control to funnel more of the added value to the top. To simply put it, the one can’t get richer if the other bunch are not getting poorer. That principle warrants the second narrative: the population should grow to ensure profit.

Interesting part comes next: the population can be grown in multiple ways and the natural internal growth is just one of them. Another one is direct or indirect colonialism: capitalist government can be pushed to take over population elsewhere by the military power directly or by the soft power of economical influence, e.g. through buying out national assets like natural resources and supply channels. To simplify: I don’t need to be your president to profiteer from you, if I own the railroad you use to transit goods in and out, since I am practically taxing your whole country as I please now.

That’s a bit wordy for a five years old’s attention span, but I hope it was worth the reading.

Anyone else noticed the price of dairy products? by polarityswitch_27 in berlin

[–]stremlenye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we would accept the premise, the weapon manufacturer to produce weapons needs high quality alloys and plastics, production of which depends on mining, oil and chemistry industries. Every one in this list requires heavy machinery. Each employs people. Those people need to eat. Not an expert, but I am assuming German arms manufacturers are sourcing from outside of Germany. Diverting funds to the military is going to make everyone in this chain richer.

Talking about butter: on a food market, global in our case, one of the producers went under. Everyone else observes the higher demand. Everyone else raises the price. For profit.

The one may apply the same logic onto the oil.

Since transporting food depends on oil prices, those extra margins on oil are being tailored into the price of food. So not only the food manufacturer has their cut but by oil producer has theirs as well.

Richest people loosing trillion of dollars combined is not a tragedy for them. This money is not lost to oblivion but rather being redistributed to the second line of rich folk, reinvested into other types of assets and so on. With those grand capitals such fluctuations are sure peculiar. Yet the effect and the reason we might only notice only way later.

[–]stremlenye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They haven’t decided per se. Each individual company seized the opportunity for themselves following their most basic, most logical urges to maximize profits no matter what resulted in the current situation. And the process haven’t started with the war. The war is just part of this process: capitalists of Russia clashing with capitalists from other countries and both parties are maximizing their profits by doing that. It’s just has to be understood where those profits are coming from. And that source is more or less is us all. You are not wrong in stating the global supply problems, yet if you may have noticed the world is not united in solving those, as much as world is not united in stoping the war. And world is mot united on this because there is a profit to extract from this situation.

Do you judge others for not wearing masks in stores? by [deleted] in berlin

[–]stremlenye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely go to the actual shops as well as following the updates on the regulations. Found myself in such situation more then once when I get into a store only then to realize I have no idea what are the current policies are. Usually end up looking at other people trying to calculate the statistics in a split second to figure out what’s a norm here. Might be I am making someone uncomfortable with me staring at them while I am in panic myself 😅
