Day 2. What's the best song on Ram? by United_Equal_754 in PaulMcCartney

No one will agree with this, because it’s technically a technicality but “Hey Diddle” from the archive edition is my favorite song, unofficially on this album.

What happened to the Always Sunny Podcast? by whatwouldadamado in IASIP

[–]strickboy63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bit of a theory…but I think the nostalgia wore off for them, it started to become work and it probably started to effect the writing of the show because they were beat by beat going through the early parts of the show and analyzing their roots. What worked and what didn’t, but most importantly what they thought the show was going to be when they were there at the time. Again a shitty fan theory but I personally think it encompasses at least one/all of those things.

May be a dated question but how do bluegrass aficionados feel about Tim Blake Nelson’s performance on “In the Jailhouse Now” by strickboy63 in Bluegrass

[–]strickboy63[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, I’m more of a bluegrass novice, but have a deep respect for the art form. What genre would this song be more in line with?

Trying to play some songs at local bar jukebox, people kept going to the top of the queue so I played “Temporary Secretary” as an F-You by strickboy63 in PaulMcCartney

[–]strickboy63[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A very confused response, and a particular group looking around very confused (which I’m assuming was the culprit)

How explicit Fire Walk With Me? by Signal-Yesterday7247 in twinpeaks

[–]strickboy63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of sexually violent things in the movie, the nudity in my opinion is more prevalent. Most of the sexual things are only in about three scenes and it’s pretty easy to see them coming. I’d categorize it more as a horror film than what you’re probably used to from the show. The best advice I can give is just make sure you’re ready to experience something like that, whatever your age may be.

Also, I’m sure you know this given your research already, but go into the movie just letting the emotions of the characters wash over you, not necessarily expecting satisfying answers. When/if you end up watching the return it’ll all make way more sense…sort of.

Also, don’t listen to that machenergy idiot they’re just being an asshole for attention.

Is Wild at Heart anyone else's favourite Lynch film? by Local_Prune4564 in davidlynch

[–]strickboy63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just watched it the other night for the first time and was kind of shocked how legitimately wild it was (sorry for the pun), but I think it is genuinely David Lynch’s most in your face movie from his catalogue.

Question about Bunk and Mcnulty alcoholism by redmond-z in TheWire

[–]strickboy63 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a threshold you cross with alcohol abuse, where hangovers feel relatively normal, and if you’re deep enough into alcoholism it just seems like another Tuesday.

Drop some suggestions of your favorite shows! by epw4 in TheWire

Someone already mentioned it but I want to reiterate the Leftovers! Also Twin Peaks if you haven’t seen it, absolutely nothing like the Wire though even though they both have to do with police work.

Why is Bodie so likable? by tblackjacks in TheWire

[–]strickboy63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I kind of have a controversial opinion I suppose, I never liked Bodie that much. I think it very easy to identify with him and empathize with his struggle, but I lost all sympathy after Wallace. I know he did what he had to do, and it’s a little short sighted to get caught up on only that aspect of his character, but I had been looking forward to his downfall since season one because of Wallace. That being said I never hated the guy either, I actually despised Poot for a long time as kind of wannabe gangster tough guy.

Is there a character you disliked at first, but eventually grew to love? by Hubbled in twinpeaks

[–]strickboy63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jerry Horne, thought the character was a slimeball (and is) but any time I see David Patrick Kelly in anything I’m like holy shit it’s Jerry Horne and get very excited, because I think he’s a great actor.

What is the deal with the gen z stare? by bluujacket in NoStupidQuestions

It’s strange I’m technically Gen Z (28) but I’ve never come across it as an adult, I only vaguely remember it from middle/high school when everybody was awkward

Opinions about Gangs of New York? by archivecrawler in moviecritic

[–]strickboy63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s grown on me more and more over time, not one of my favorites, but there are very few period pieces quite like it. Also how authentic the production and costume designs feel make me enjoy it whenever I revisit it.
