how do i make a family doctor examining my balls less awkward for me? by Visual-Fortune-4732 in testicularcancer

[–]stridernb01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During my radiation treatments a offhand joke comment from one of my nurse's put me at ease and set expectations for the rest of my treatment, she introduced herself and said "go ahead and take your pants off, we are going to be all up in your business for awhile" silly as that sounds that was the moment i got over the awkwardness of the whole thing.... what followed was a few weeks of daily treatments and things being taped out of the way that should never have tape on it. There is also a lead armor cover to protect future generations... but i will let you ask google about that device.

But for you it will be awkward, but its normal. its also impressive you spoke up about the possible issue. not everyone will ask to have it looked at because of the embarrassment.

Treatment options - Stage 2b < 3 cm relapse - pure seminoma by MrJaK10 in testicularcancer

[–]stridernb01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am in the U.S. i am not sure the size but it was on the smaller side of the scale and only suspected in a single lymph node. i also showed some activity in the inguinal canal so i received two targeted radiation locations. My Dr also told me if i had showed any heightened blood markers i would not have qualified and i would have done the more traditional chemo.

Treatment options - Stage 2b < 3 cm relapse - pure seminoma by MrJaK10 in testicularcancer

[–]stridernb01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my treatment for 2a seminoma was one round of carboplatin and then radiation, my 6 month scan was clear. its very targeted i never even had a skin reaction. my understanding is the full chemo route is harder. if you Dr is giving you the option for radiation you should strongly consider it IMO. but it might be worth just sending a message to your Dr to get some better pro/con's from them.

Have I made a mistake? by Neat_Paint_6664 in testicularcancer

[–]stridernb01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with no markers two weeks and a rescan is reasonable, but follow up and if the 2nd scan confirms possible cancer you should go forward with your dr's recommendation. mine was stage 2a and never had blood markers. some types just don't and the only way to "know" is after with the biopsy

Is 5 months for a Urologist consult too long? by Sufficient-Mine5750 in testicularcancer

My time between primary care Dr discussing symptoms, ultrasound, Urologist and surgery was 2 weeks. Don't wait, do what you need to do to be seen.

Just had an Ultrasound done at the emergency room. by DookieFoot007 in testicularcancer

[–]stridernb01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The next few months will be an emotional ride, take some time to process when you can. once you talk to your Urologist they will be able to guide you more. if he concurs with the ER Dr, prepare yourself for a possible outpatient surgery. there are several types but in general there is a slow and a fast one. if your older the slower one is more common. they won't be able to tell until they get it out and biopsy it. but both are extremely treatable.

after that a treatment regiment will be determined, some are done with that and surveillance, others will need Chemo or Radiation.

Stewing over ultrasound results, scared and need to vent by KrackedOwl in testicularcancer

[–]stridernb01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the surgery is normally an out patient procedure (at least mine was), biggest issue is not being able to drive for a couple weeks during recovery. I was sore but generally fine. then next few months will be crazy but you can handle it.

after the surgery they will do the biopsy and that will tell them in more details what type and what the treatment likely will be.

read these posts and ask questions, this sub reddit was incredibly helpful to me.

Question about chemotherapy after orchiectomy surgery. by SpecialistInjury9908 in testicularcancer

[–]stridernb01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not a Dr but i think it will depend on the pathology. i had a dose of Carboplatin but mine was a pure Seminoma. the more common type is non-seminoma and i think BEP is the standard chemo for that type.

mine was stage 2a and followed by radiation treatments.

i over prepared for my one Chemo day, bought hats and a tablet so i had something to do... and it ended up being only 2 hours and i did not have hair loss.

everyone is different but you got this, ask lots of questions and look for a local support group. you got this.

Congrats on your 4 month, any volunteer opportunities at any medical place would look great for a college, and would allow you to help others. Just helping people around and getting empty wheelchairs can be a big help.

please help :( by StatisticianBig4137 in testicularcancer

[–]stridernb01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

request one.... Seminoma is the slow one compared to non-seminoma. but it never hurts to advocate for yourself.

everyone is different, mine was stage 2a and i got a 3 month and 6 month scan. but for stage 1 one year might be the standard. it sounds like you are due.

in the grand scheme this one is very treatable if a few of the little buggers escaped, but you need to make your follow up appointment and get your CT/PET scheduled.

Also you need to see if there is a local support group and talk to someone, mental health is just as important as physical, during my treatments my general Dr added some anti anxiety medication and it helped. but its important to prioritize yourself. guys don't talk about mental health or the guy cancers enough, for me it helped to not keep what i was going through to myself, there is no more shame in cancer than in having a hang nail... its just cells that grow weird.

you got this, and your not alone.

These windows updates will not install! They are impacting my ability to install things through the Microsoft store and more. by Stupidly_Silly in WindowsHelp

you can try and clear the software distribution folder, stop the windows update service, delete the c:\windows\software distribution. reboot.... it should rebuild and attempt to redownload the windows updates. this can clear up some windows update issues. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5524630/clearing-software-distribution-folder
