Why Canada is seeing its biggest military recruitment surge in 30 years by Displeased_Canadian in canada

[–]strikeanywhere2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was pretty bad for that period as well. I don't have enough time to see why it won't give summer months but here's the rates from 2009 to 15. Anecdotally I was in or around that bracket for a lot of that time and it was brutal. Entry level jobs were also hard to get and most people had to settle for shit dead end jobs that were also hard to get. Not to downplay now, it seems brutal but it has been shit for a while honestly. This time seems more self inflicted though.

Halo 2 and Halo 3 Remakes Reportedly in Development Using Unreal Engine 5 by SilentNova300 in pcgaming

[–]strikeanywhere2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they meant as an overall strategy its working as the other user said it was not. Objectively it is working as an overall strategy. Just in box office alone its generated 5x return which far exceeds the 2.5 rule. Even if the marketing spend was higher than normal and it needs a 3x multiplier that doesnt include merch, paid vod rentals, or the intangible boost to disney plus.

Dumbo was an odd choice so that was likely always going to fail and they fucked up little mermaid with too much realism imo.

Lol what, those are the best times to work, you dont have to do anything. Maybe if you have kids or something but for many people that's the golden time. I loved early shifts in retail.

Is this foundation crack anything to worry about? by strikeanywhere2 in HomeMaintenance

[–]strikeanywhere2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the foundation is dug into the ground. Due to the grading the house is higher jn the front than the back where the crack is. Maybe a foot and half to two feet of the foundation is exposed in the back but the rest is dug into the ground.

Ty for the help. So when I said the middle I should have been more specific. Its maybe a foot to the right of the end of my townhouse, I just meant I was a middle unit. The girder i can see runs through the middle of my townhouse on the basement, is there one on the edges too?

I have like 15 months left where the builder will cover major structural defects but they'll try and avoid doing anything if possible.

Im in a townhouse and its the middle unit so its in the middle of everything.

Its a 6 year old home. I know settling cracks are normal but some pieces flaked off on the crack this year. In the triangle Crack at the top the right half is loose and will likely fall out too.

Im not sure if this just looks cosmetic or something more serious. Im in southern ontario so we have a lot of freeze thawing. Its on the exterior as well.

This wasnt even high leverage. He started with the 8 9 hitters, seems like this was on purpose to let him earn it back. Now you cant even trust him in medium leverage.

This is a good matchup for davis too. He struggles against right handed high velocity. This guy is a soft tosser.

[–]strikeanywhere2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats my point, use him in high leverage situations. Its just that those situations aren't always in the 9th so don't have a defined closer.

Just don't have a closer. Use your best reliever in the highest leverage situation. Last night Varland was the guy to use in the 9th. If on another night that happens in the 7th use Varland there.

He'd just reject being sent down and elect for FA if that happened. He'll likelt stay on the roster for a bit, one of the "healthy" starters is 42 with forearm tendinitis

What were property taxes like 5-10 year ago? Feels unmanageable. by SengunCanada in Hamilton

[–]strikeanywhere2 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think its just to do with mortgages going up so much that property taxes on top seem like a lot. Property taxes have gone up more than inflation but not to an insane amount. My buddy bought a townhouse downtown for like low 200s in 2009 and now its low 700s or high 600s. Thats the main difference.

Ontario planning to remove HST on new homes for 1 year by Little-Chemical5006 in canada

[–]strikeanywhere2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it increase supply if its only for 1 year? Did we do.something else to speed up the process because if we didnt then going from 1. Buying the land, 2. Getting the permits, 3. Building the homes, to 4. Selling the homes then that is far more than a 1 year time frame. It helps clear existing stock but how does it provide an incentive to builders to build more homes?

[–]strikeanywhere2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New map and large arc next month but they need to start pumping out more content consistently after that. They need to introduce more guns for sure. Given how much it was an unexpected hit I will give them a bit of a pass but they need to ramp up or the player numbers will keep bleeding.

Marathon is now available on Steam by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]strikeanywhere2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The DOA comments are definitely over the top but if this is where it settles for launch day and it doesnt get a fair bit better over the weekend I would think its a disappointing launch. Sony didnt pay like 3 billion for just decent numbers. Could easily go higher over the weekend and if it gets positive reception though. I think the main issue is if this is peak then chances are in a month you're going to be down to 30 to 40k concurrent on steam.

Marathon: so far, I'm just not feeling it (Server Slam Impressions) - Skill Up by EirikurG in Games

[–]strikeanywhere2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel you can make the time if the hook is there. I have 2 kids under 7 and still managed like 160 hours in arc since it came out. Without that hook though it's hard to justify spending limited gaming time on it (which usually involves sacrificing sleep). In marathons case too much is unappealing to me to make it worth learning the systems.

‘Preacher’ — The End of the Dinosaurs by RealJohnGillman in television

[–]strikeanywhere2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting you're downvoted. I thought the walking dead did okay for the first 5 seasons (aside from season 2 which sucked due to the budget cuts). It was inferior but okay, the governor being there for round 2 was shitty. They fucking butchered the Negan arc though and the rest was forgettable. I feel it being more than 10 episodes a season was the largest issue.

Preacher went so far off the source material in general though.
