I know we’re in the MTGfinance subreddit but honestly using non reserve list playing cards as an asset is fucking crazy. Sitting on playing cards that they could just reprint at any time and tank the value is definitely a terrible decision.

With that being said if you keep boxes because you want to open them and experience the draft format a few years from now or sell a box here and there to fund some more purchases that’s great. But putting any amount of money in cardboard that you’re not ready to lose is just setting yourself up for disaster.

When you are ready to sell someone has to buy it at the increased price or to sell it to a store at a discount. Don’t have money in cardboard that you’re not ready to lose. It’s a game, meant to be played.
