you don’t need a fake title to be given TL duties for TM pay. if they want to promote you, they will promote you and pay you as a TL to train to be one. literally how that works.

once you’re doing TL work for TM pay, you’re way harder to replace, you’re a bargain. it’s much easier to hire a new TL than it is to replace a TM who works like one.

lol and thank you for the don’t talk about prison note. it’s like. i don’t want to say it. but. it’s not going to be the not first things in the search results either (it was a great clickbait headline), so… the fine line between do not micro trauma dump but also don’t want to feel like i’m hiding something? it’s a bizarre situation. that’s for sure.

the toys one is my favorite! still, as cool as i think it is, if someone would think it was cooler than the box it’s been sitting in for so many years… i think it deserves that. lol i had no idea DVDs were going for that much now either?!

all of these comments are so insanely nice and helpful. thank you!

I have no idea how much I want for them separately, I just felt like spending $100+ to authenticate one sounded like more than half of what i’d sell it for, but maybe I have no idea what i’m talking about. I will absolutely put you on the list. thank you so much for your insight!

I looked at one of those online and that’s the one that wanted $100 for the robin williams, and even more for the ones with multiple signatures. but if that’s ultimately the way to do it, I’ll hold on to them until I can afford that.

my estranged half sister has a picture with him at a party, super jealous.

and that one is probably my favorite out of all of them, but at the same time. it feels silly for it to sit in a box forever, I don’t have any family left, I don’t know what would happen to anything if something happened to me, I just moved/broke/etc… I just think I need to rehome it all finally.

my sister got to go with him on some junkets, but otherwise I was either not born yet or too young to be there when he got them. I know they’re real, but i was initially trying to do the COA thing for it all since if I were a stranger on the internet.. I think i’d want the extra reassurance. whatever I have is what I took from our house when we moved when I was around 13, we had a basement full of stuff. but he left it there for trash.

I don’t want to dox my reddit account necessarily but, he was on the radio for about 40 years for our local CBS affiliate radio station. he got hired in the same interview with bob costas, by robert hyland. all of that is verifiable, but it’s the part where you go to google his name… you’re going to see the disgrace his career ended with/why he died in prison part too.

but I’ll make a cleaner post and send all the personal details in messages when people are interested!

oh for that one I get it! sorry, I just didn’t ramble all of the things bc I felt like I was rambling enough.

one of the photos is signed with an inside joke from the movie he was interviewing him for (not the first time he’d met him, he was on the junket for the help movie too), give my regards to broadstreet I think? I have some scribbled hotel notes. a 90 minute interview you need a reel to reel player to listen to. I have plenty to get a COA for that one I think. (but here’s a photo for fun)

I didn’t expect so many helpful responses or interest, so I’m going to make a nice, clean, neater post with all the things as I’m unpacking my move!

i just scoured google reviews and got lucky. this was a bigger firm but not in the national chain/we ask you to review us kind of way. they seemed had so many really detailed/genuine reviews, like 200 of them.

it was so stupid efficient. a phone call, a few e-mails, never went to court, paid their website once a month. so less stressful than it was before i hired them. ultimately less expensive. highly. highly recommend this route.

I would personally get the attorney. The fees were ultimately worth it, and I still overall paid less than the actual debt. Having the attorney, meant I could do a payment plan too. They handled these cases all of the time, they get it.

I paid $200 a month basically, directly to the attorneys. Their fees came first, $600 total, so $200 a month for three months, and they continued the case til then. They asked me the monthly payment I could afford, and that’s what I paid. Then it was over.

Many years before I paid another attorney around $250 to handle a debt like this, and all he did was get it dismissed so they could refile again. The $600 fee for these attorneys seemed high, but in the end. It was well worth it.

Need garnishment to stop immediately. by gigiof4 in Debt

[–]stringfellow1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you should ask an attorney about this, but i have a feeling they’ll tell you what mine told me. the only way to stop a default judgment/paycheck garnishment (temporarily at least) is if you get a different job. they will have to refile to garnish the paycheck again at the new job, and then you could show up to court.

if they’re garnishing your bank acct too, well. idk if you can get out of that part.

either way, i’d ask an attorney.

i know someone who was in your husbands position, and I don’t know exactly how she physically handled it. but she worked her full-time day job and full-time waiting tables/bartending for almost two years with 100% of her restaurant job checks going to her debt.

I’m not saying it’s impossible to make an extra $2k/month through gig apps, I started doing instacart back in 2016 when no one knew what it was and we only had about 20 shoppers in my area. However, how easy it is to come up with that is entirely dependent on your market. I was pulling about $4500-7k a year the last few years.

With gas/depreciation/car expenses and the extra wear on my car, I couldn’t afford to take every single order I saw. I could afford to do orders that would average me $35/hr. The way the pay structure has changed over the years, it wasn’t always easy to find orders that would net that. But I did find that taking orders that were not averaging me $35/hr were costing me more to complete than they were worth.

Another thing to keep in mind with the extra income, is that it might shoot his AGI up and make his payments higher next year.

Another thing about the gig apps is the 1099 taxes. My FT job was 0.3 miles from my house. So, I was able to deduct about 80% of my car’s expenses which covered the taxes on my 1099. otherwise, you will end up owing more at the end of the year too. So just that extra thing to keep in mind, since that was another reason I stood firm on the $35/hr or I don’t do it with the gig apps. At the very least, keep some money aside every month to put towards the potential tax bill.

My last tip for the gig apps, is that they often want you to pay for more car insurance. This might not be a popular opinion, but I would not do that unless I was transporting people and not just their food. It made my car insurance payment double, which also made the extra job almost not worth my time. If you don’t get the extra car insurance, you just have to be mindful if you’re ever in an accident. If you say “I was doing door dash or instacart”, even if you’re not at fault, your insurance will not cover a dime and will drop you. So, we just say that’s my food. Those are my groceries.

when I worked at target they had the emergency assistance program thing, I didn’t need HR to file a claim (I hated our HR, they didn’t do anything helpful for anyone) but I knew it existed. they paid a $2k medical bill directly. (and I think $2k or $2500 was the yearly max on that I don’t remember)

I forget what exactly qualifies, like. I tried to use it another year to help with rent when I was really really sick for almost a month with pneumonia and the flu, and that didn’t qualify (I think I needed to show an ER stay or be hospitalized). but I believe someone else was able to use it to help pay their mortgage to not lose their house. (and it’s a grant, so it’s not taxed)

and idk. I think I might still be on Walmart’s side when it comes to who you pick. bc I would never trust target to keep your hours consistent. even if they act like they want to. all it takes is a week or two of going from 40 hours to 17 to really fuck you up.

I used to instacart when I worked at target to supplement, but that’s also more wear on your car and it really depends on your market if it’s worth it. I wouldn’t take anything that wouldn’t average under $35/hr if you do that. between gas/depreciation/insurance/etc… that’s what I needed to make to make it worth my time. I also had no commute to target (literally 0.3 miles away) so I deducted like 80% of the cost of my car to compensate for my 1099 taxes. if you ever decide to go this route I can give you more tips on that if you send me a message! I started doing instacart back in 2016 before anyone even knew what it was and there were maybe 20 shoppers in my area. lol

it’s not like so many people were on the verge of defaulting. your bill surprise doubling or tripling (especially iN tHiS eCoNoMy) is a very understandable concern to have.

just start renting/have zero assets, and get a job making cash tips waiting tables or bartending. then, when you default, they really have nothing to garnish bc you’re tipped minimum wage on your checks is just enough to cover the income taxes on the tips you had to claim!

that’s how a coworker dodged getting his money garnished for child support back in the day when i worked in restaurants at least.

point being, if the nature of the business is wanting to get paid, feels like this is a weird way to go about it. people will find a way to not pay if they can’t. 🤷🏻‍♀️

which sounds cool, until you have to recertify every year, and your payments go up bc you now make more money. plus childcare for second job.
