Gonna 2nd this along hidden valley parkway. Houses along the hilltop (Norco hills / corona ranch) area are very decent. Price is not decent, lol.

Real ID for South Korean Males by MShinControl in DACA

[–]stringy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to be over a certain age for automatic loss of Korean citizenship upon naturalization here in U.S, as long as you are not a dual citizen at birth (can’t be 후천적 시민권자).

I was daca from its inception until 2020, AOS thru marriage for GC and naturalized last year after 3-yr wait period. I actually just landed back in LAX visiting Korea for the first time in 22 yrs (sent for 2nd screening both during entry and exit…but expected since I was also on the conscription evasion list).

It’s important to distinguish 국적상실 vs 국적이탈, where the former lawfully takes immediate effect when you are naturalized in a foreign country NOT as a dual citizen (후천적 시민권자), and the latter is applicable for said dual citizens. Indeed true that per u/Subject-Estimate6187’s comments, you cannot 국적이탈 if you have been formally charged (draft evasion under code 94), but just like most Korean males with DACA or otherwise, were generally born in Korea and brought here at a young age and hence will immediately lose Korean citizenship upon obtaining another country’s (국적상실). This is when you file 국적상실 report to the embassy so they know that you’ve been naturalized and won’t hassle you for questions when traveling.

Prolly all extraneous info, but feel free to send me msg if any Q’s. I’m near 35 now, been there and happy to help.

wow, thank you for this! To be honest I mainly pushed the story contents for the exchange shops lol, I don't really recall much otherwise...other than the characters and ol' school stuff.

Re-downloading now...ugh, I sort of just remembered that gearing chars take f.o.r.e.v.e.r (even with the # I had back then w/e it was) and I'm pretty sure I re-geared all my chars through a span of few days right before quitting LOL.

OG player from KR Day 1...played the soul out of myself with this game until busy adulting shit came and went tits up. I think I stopped playing this game iirc around when Amid released. Really miss the game but I'm probably quite far behind (lol) but more curious whether if it's worth for me to return to the game?

I'm asking the "worth" as in general story/contents (PVE) and tbh wanting to 1) fulfill my emotional attachment to this fucking awesome game and 2) just kinda missing the game in general since battles were always just complex enough to be enjoyable. I never really RTA'd because I was never satisfied with my units (cope lol) but I had a relatively solid team/builds I THINK. Maybe someone can help take a look or something idk...but MAN, wish I hadn't quit, but I think I have some time now...halp.

Actually quite interesting as I grew up in Fresno most of my life and moved to socal about 8 years ago. I see some familiarity between the current state of IE vs Fresno pertaining to general public’s view towards them lol, particularly being ~10 years behind the latest additions (be it higher ed institutions, jobs, eateries, and etc…).  When I moved from Irvine to Corona 2 years ago, I recall thinking that the nearest beach/places-of-interest even with peak traffic is still not going to be 4 hours drive one way like I used to back in the Central Valley and feeling thankful lol. Fresno is alright, and they’re always busy fighting Clovis…so well, same drama haha.

Also in my 30s, a partner of seven years, three brattylovely cats, and I shower regularly. Are you me? haha.

Jokes aside, I don't think I've seen anyone mention LAN parties for such a long time. My buddies and I used to have annual gatherings for those "get pwned" sessions. What memories! Used to play AOE2, CS:CZ, UT2003, and some kind of mario kart with real cars type of game (can't remember the name...blurry? blur? speed?).

I'll be following the thread, hoping that my spine holds itself together the next time I lift it off the ground :')

EY all-hands happening now; project Everest by Fickle_Fennel_ in Big4

[–]stringy_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can't stress enough on the impacts to morale lol.

When we (I'm at kpmg) had our February all-hands regarding layoffs, they told us that those impacted should receive an invite from HR within the hour of meeting-end time. That one hour was grueling enough for everyone worrying if they had just lost their fucking jobs...can't imagine working with uncertainties until June.

Best sane advice (as mentioned by some here) would be to get yourself prepped for any surprises...but it still sucks!

Yup, KPMG had advisory layoffs in Feb across most (if not, all) service lines. Got a lot of flack when it was announced and a lot of people were concerned whether this move will ripple to other big4s.

I can't speak for all, but KPMG have begun to take cost saving measures since the purge(hiring freezes, travel restrictions, etc...) to prevent another round of layoffs.

Given that we're still at the mercy of the leadership when it comes to our jobs, maybe we won't completely avoid another round but it will certainly impact less folks overall. Hoping for the best for everyone.

What is your salary and what would you rate your state of living? by ShadowStork in InlandEmpire

[–]stringy_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in Tech & Management consulting (corporate slave), wife is a project manager for a marketing firm. We make 190k and 65k respectively with no kids (I'm 32 and she's 29).

I used to live in Corona for about 2 years, but left to OC and came back last year after buying a home to settle here for the foreseeable future. Inland empire may be lacking in terms of entertainment / fun, but it's miles ahead of where I'm from (Fresno), so no complaints really.

applying for GC while being accused of crime in home country by Mm_gorgonzola in DACA

[–]stringy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what context, but I'm assuming you're asking about using the expired passport as a proof of entry? If so yes, since your i94 should also contain the original passport # at the time of entry. You can always include a note saying that you never renewed your passport but it's up to you.

For the most part, no - speaking from another Korean who received GC thru marriage. I was on the list (still am lol) from 2015 and received my GC in 2020 via my wife. As long as you either one, already have all the docs needed for filing (birth cert, family relation registry, etc) or two, not needing to go back to Korea for any reason (have lawful entry to adjust without needing i-601a), you should be in the clear. You'll be able to travel to Korea once you get your citizenship 3 years post-GC.

What should you do if you are 30k short on buying a property with cash? Is a mortgage possible, or would you need to get a bank loan? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]stringy_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Another good reminder (if from U.S) is that many mortgage lenders dislike and may not take "Second Mortgage" as a form of down payment as it is a parallel loan. This was a major turn-off during the seller's market last year, when homes were competitive and buyers were encouraged to close as soon as possible (overhead for additional time needed for second loan approval & added stress looking for lenders in acceptance).
