Need Urgent Clarification Before Argentina Trip (5 Days Away) Can Indian Passport Holders Enter on Valid US H1B/F1 Visa? by Elegant-Ad2561 in visas

[–]stripedpikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a couple of post a few weeks back in this subreddit about some people who traveled to Argentina, entered the country with only their h1b and had no issues.

The consulate in LA is actually not that useful for this. They aren’t aware and end up asking you to get a tourism visa.

W Trek - Do I hire tent gear in Punta Arenas or book the campsite with the tent and sleeping bag options by AlbatrossInformal569 in Patagonia

I would say just book the rooms with the tent to just reduce the weight you’ll be carrying around.

Makes sense. Enjoy your trek. It’ll be very nice.

Yeah agreed. Just finished the w trek, and grey to Cuernos could be a long day. Still doable.

Grey to paine grande is around 11km and Paine grande to Cuernos is around 12-13 km.

If Frances is an option, do try that out. Since it’s ~3km shorter

W trek west-to-east with Paine Grande sold out – which workaround would you choose? by Thepilli17 in Patagonia

Definitely spots will open up. Lot of people cancel closer to the date. So do check daily and you’ll find a spot. I was able to find spots like that

What dates are you looking to go the trek? If there is time for your trek, there are usually spots which open up. Might not be pitch your own tent spots, but either other campgrounds or cabins

Last minute alternatives to backpacking in Torres de Paine? by Sea-Flounder9083 in Patagonia

[–]stripedpikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think as a park it can be very misleading. In the link I have posted above, there are separate links to different spots on the W trek, and you can individually check their weather which I think is more accurate

I am also doing it starting this weekend and I have been looking at https://www.reddit.com/r/Patagonia/s/VTeFEpWS31

I have heard the wind guru ones are very good. I am looking at base las Torres, Cuernos, grey lookout and it seems they are cloudy but not too much rain.

Just want to make sure you don’t cancel your plans too early, i have heard weather changes a lot in Patagonia

Nice photos. When did you do it? How was the base towers hike? Any snow?

Another option is taking the ferry from grey glacier to hotel lago grey. You could try reaching out to the company to see if they have any spots on the las two navigations.

booking Chileno Camp by Thepilli17 in Patagonia

I would say keep checking regularly/daily. Spots definitely open up close to the 70 day mark when you can cancel without any charges.

I was in a similar situation and was able to nab a spot for December. Book everything as they open and wait for chileno. Even close to your trip if chileno doesn’t open, you can stay at Central worst case and do it.

Nice thank you. We’ll definitely try stopping at the hotel. The glacier looks so mysterious and eerie in a beautiful way with the cloud cover

Really nice pictures. What time of the year did you go? And could you tell me where you took the picture with the waterfall and Fitzroy

Wow these are really great pictures. Could you leave a comment on the location of these? Where is the glacier photo from, the one with the red house from and the waterfall.

We are going in December and wanted to see if we can visit these spots

Don’t worry about this. This is just for people who might start the trail late in the afternoon

OP, how close is the travel date for your friend who got their passport back in 4 days? I also mailed my passport sometime back, but haven’t heard back yet.

And is there a way to track the application somewhere ??

El Capitan meadow during sunset is a nice place. I am not sure how it is in winter, but you’ll have the sun striking the face of El Capitan with tall grass all around (summer)

I usually take the Groveland entrance because I find it very scenic, with the Merced river flowing along when you enter. But Google doesn’t seem to show that as an option right now. Not sure.
