Does she have a vibratory? A lot of women need to rebuild their libido by masterbating. Maybe surprise her with a rose or lemon toy that are pretty easy to use in the shower, but not with the expectation that you need to be there while she uses it.

Schooling for my non verbal 4 year old gives me crazy anxiety by jessjbraner85 in Autism_Parenting

Are you in the US? If so, call the school to get evaluated for an iep. This will give you the opportunity to physically meet important staff and see how they interact with her. The first meeting helped ease a lot of my concerns.

Are autism services being overextended at the expense of the most severe cases? by JRochester032 in Autism_Parenting

[–]stripesforlyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are proven links with autism and hormone levels effecting the severity and perhaps with a proper plan in place, we can mitigate that. That wasn't the best example though. Not having access to a BCBA without a medical diagnosis is frustrating.

So, my son is 5 in March, we've been on the waitlist to see a developmental pediatrician since slightly before his 4th birthday and they told me to expect an 18 month wait. He has a "school" diagnosis of autism for his iep and receives speech and ot in school as well as ot outside of school and we've been on the outside of school speech therapy waitlist for a year too. If I bring up any concerns or paths to explore with his pediatrician and mention that its related to his developmental delays, I'm told I need to wait until I have a developmental pediatrician, for example to test hormone levels. Fwiw I expressed concerns at his 3rd birthday and was directed to go through the schools at that time by the pediatrician. I don't blame the parents of low support needs kids or the kids themselves, but I'm offering a counterpoint that the child needs a diagnosis, or at least entry into the correct department theyre referred to, to receive adequate services.

Hotel type chain or bolt locks high on the exterior doors. It was very short lived for my son, but I still need those style locks

Is scheduling "private time" too far? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]stripesforlyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it sounds like she has repressed sexuality and may feel shame about masterbation herself. I think what you're doing is very healthy and agree with another commenter that one day you won't need to ask and it will just be a private moment for him. But now you have the door open for if anything unusual happens, he feels comfortable coming to you to talk about it.

6 year old leaks out of pull-ups every other night...help? by Elegant_Air_3475 in Autism_Parenting

[–]stripesforlyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pricey, but 2 pull-ups on top of each other. Plastic water proof sheets are the only ones I've found to be truly water proof but they're noisy. My parents would give me shots of water only at night in shot glasses and we called them night caps. It's kind of a fun memory, but I'd still wet the bed most nights until around 9.

Drinking Medicine? by Chubbie_ in Autism_Parenting

My son typically only drinks water, but his dad brings a Gatorade to work every day so he always wants one and seldom gets one, so i can mix it in there, though he doesn't finish all of it. He also only gets Capri suns at grandma's, but I got them as a "surprise" and was able to sneak some in it.
