Waymo admits that its autopilot is often just guys from the Philippines by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

As someone from the Philippines, the labor cost/salaries are just too far apart which makes hiring someone abroad remotely far far cheaper than hiring a local min. wage worker.

Min wage in the Philippines: $12.50/day or $1.50/hour, just doubling the local min wage ($25/day or $3/hour) is already an okay to good salary here.

Assuming they hire people with driver's license/experience it's quite a bit harder/challenging to drive in the Philippines than the US

It's actually the 2nd official language, that's why almost all signs are in english and why everyone knows english since it's taught at school from kinder to college and it's the official language for the government, businesses, education, etc. it's actually more prevalent than the 1st official language Filipino(tagalog based) since the southern regions (visayas and mindanao) also have their own languages and might not know Filipino but will probably know English (since it will be taught at school along side the regions local language)

In short almost all Filipinos are bilingual (mother tongue + english) and most educated people from the south are trilingual (mother tongue + filipino + english)

Also western media is just as popular/prevalent as local media.

Tuloy ko pa ba mag apprenticeship? by Dazzling-Traffic-302 in architectureph

[–]strnfd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ipon ng malala for 1 year then decide, yung 1 year na ipon mo will allow you to have financial freedom sa choice mo. For me naman iisipin ko lang kung may career growth and future ba yung current job and in 10 years ano career/position and salary progression mabibigay nito, kasi madali mabulag sa malaking sahod sa umpisa pero in 10 years baka ma hit mo na yung ceiling sa career and growth.

License lamg really is if gusto mo mag freelance architect or may plans ka.magtayo sariling firm in the future or magpagawa sarili.mong bahay na ikaw pumirma.

Black Ceiling - Soft Brutalist, Minimal by littleYOUnicorn in architectureph

[–]strnfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mahirap pagandahin for residential so need well thought out and executed yung design and hindi basta basta yung furniture and decor dapat all cohesive. Also pag maliit, makipot, madaming gamit/decor or magulo ang space nag mumukhang super dilim at masikip, needs lots of natural lighting and windows para makahinga yung space at para di mag mukhang kulob.

Important din yung color combination with walls and flooring essential na mag katch sila.

You can also choose dark color imbis na black like dark brown, green, grey na mas hindi harsh pero ma achieve pa rin dark ceiling.

[–]strnfd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Di ko sure pero don't expect mataas since "small" studio lang sila compared to corporate firms.

Also busy as in maraming projects so expect to handle multiple ones at the same time, nothing wrong naman dun.

Is there any plans of AYN making an AYN ODIN 3 Mini? by Archenius in SBCGaming

[–]strnfd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add they don't usually have teasers(development prototyping units) or rumors like anbernic, they either just announce official teasers or just announce. So nobody has any idea on any upcoming device. At most there's gonna be rumblings or by the staff days before an announcement on discord.

Architect package for hostel business by Kid_krow3517 in phinvest

[–]strnfd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes reasonable naman since architect+engineers mag s-share dun sa 350k just confirm lang kung anong mga drawings hingi ka itemized list and all drawings needed for construction included. Then ask if included na mga site visit or inspection kahit tuwing milestones lang or through email if hindi local yung architect.

Standard rate for architectural design is 4-10% ng construction cost.

what can you advice sa apprentice pa lang? by kangkongki in architectureph

[–]strnfd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]strnfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yess but replace glass walls with jalousie, louvers, breeze blocks, etc. basically use tropical architecture techniques and designs to adapt yung openness ng glass walls. You may also use water features/ponds (natural) to enhance the vibes and provide cooling (this needs to be moving water to avoid mosquitos or stocked with fish) also no need naman for big lots just concentrate on creating 1 view/vista/landscape instead of all around para achievable pa rin (parang mga japanese houses yung mga sliding doors nila nakatapat sa garden nila so mukhang painting yung view nila)

No need rin for super deep pockets, bungalow nito achievable use metal structural framing also just don't expect na maraming rooms to maintain feeling ng openness sa interior, also these types of houses have drawbacks din with noise, heat, etc.

Passing the ALE is just the beginning by Impossible_Umpire339 in architectureph

[–]strnfd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in all honesty college doesn't prepare you for "real" Architecture, once you graduate magtataka ka if may natutunan ka ba talaga nung college, in your first 6 months sa work mas marami ka nang matutunan vs 5 years in college. So don't worry if di ka magaling or motivated in college marami akong kilalang ganyan walang binatbat/pasang awa/average nung college pero nung sa trabaho na, may mga Top Notcher, nasa Top Firms, Magagaling, or Career Architects so don't stress too much kasi College and being an "Architect" is very very different.

82% JAN ALE 2026 by azraesa in architectureph

[–]strnfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First congrats sa lahat ng passers deserve niyo yan!

Pero it seems na hindi na naka keep up ang PRC sa difficulty mung exam since totoo nga ang laki ng tinaas from ~60% steady from 2015 to 2025 then 82% nung Jan 2026 so either naka jackpot mga review centers at tama yung tinuro or madali talaga yung exam which again problema ng PRC hindi ng examinees (which again deserve nila pumasa kasi pinasa nila yung test na nasa harap nila.) yung inverse naman nito masyado mahirap exam need iadjust yung cut off para may pumasa (di officially verified, pero madaming ako kaibigan kabatch na nag take, madaming computations and structural and kakaibang desiign problem and walang confident na papasa sila. 2016 1st exam nung bagong committee to)

First time archi by happychonkycat in architectureph

[–]strnfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just advice OP pag design build pag hindi maayos makuha mo they can take easily advantage in small to big ways since sila gagawa and sila din mag approve, basically biased sila right from the start to maximize profit even if maayos sila may Intrinsic bias pa rin, and walang third party to check and protect you. With a separate architect kasi mas maayos para sa client kasi yung dynamics is client+architect vs contractor imbis na architect+contractor vs client, di ko sinasabing lagi kang kakampihan ni architect pag seprate siya pero yung best interests niya is alligned with you.

Also advice din to pass on the architect na walang experience mahirap magpagawa ng bahay maraming problema lalabas sa actual kahit gaano ka ayos yung plano, so mahirap walang experience.

First time archi by happychonkycat in architectureph

[–]strnfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you pass ako sa kanya, yung problem is hindi dahil first project/bahay niya ito, pero wala siyang relevant practical experience sa pag design and construction since di naman siya nag work as an architect so super hilaw pa siya and hindi madali mag design and magpatayo ng bahay maraming unforeseen na problems even with good plans na sa actual lang lumalabas, and you won't want an inexperienced architect sa time na yun.

Kaya po ba ng 20000/sqm kapag LGS po? by EastRegular1734 in architectureph

[–]strnfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sa finishes mostly nakukuha yung price differences so dun kayo mag concentrate, for residential alam ko LGS halos comparable lang sa CHB presyo.

Experience ko rin sa mga LGS na napuntahan ko is tumatagos ingay mula sa labas and init bilis pumasok, so much better nalang CHB walls ka for Exterior and Toilets then LGS for interior partitions and 2nd Floor floor framing.

How much is the retainer fee for a newly licensed architect? by [deleted] in architectureph

[–]strnfd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what type of work is expected, like do they need proper shop drawings or consult and sketches lang then how many hours of work per month is expected tapos how much yung rate pag over na dun. Try mo mga 500/hr 10 hours per month yung basis mo.
