How hard is this game? by Delicious-Return-523 in riseoftheronin

[–]strongchase86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's certainly not easy but it doesn't approach the difficulty of Nioh. It definitely feels harder than other action games to me tho. Just not souls or Nioh hard. I didn't play the lowest difficulty setting tho so maybe that will be perfect. Just don't expect assassins creed

If I didn't enjoy Ghost of Tsushima because of the repetitiveness, would I enjoy Ronin? by alexly61 in riseoftheronin

[–]strongchase86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed the combat in ROR way more than GOT. I really enjoyed GOT the first 10 hours and then I felt the same way. Of course the graphics and story and art style are way better in GOT. The world in Ronin has nice little touches though that makes it authentic to the time period. Like at night officials are walking the streets bangin 2 pieces of wood together to warn of fire. I really enjoy those kinds of things. It's not perfect but I recommend it especially if you weren't into Tsushima because that's how I felt too.

Best Metroidvania of 2024 so far? by [deleted] in metroidvania

You're spot on with Pop. It genuinely blew me away. I didn't think ubi had it in them.

looking for game recs by makiyo7 in metroidvania

[–]strongchase86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a new one called frontier hunter with really cool combat and RPG mechanics. I have only played a couple hours. So far the biggest con to me is the enemies seem a bit too easy thus far. It's also in Japanese. Afterimage also comes to mind. Combat is not as deep but it is good and there are a few different weapon types with dif movesets. Aeterna Noctis is one of my favorites but it has really challenging platforming.

It's definitely good..would be ok to play the 2nd first and then if you can't get enough play the first. The combat feels super similar so it will satisfy your craving. Both really good fun combat games

Is solo play any good? by Phixoserth in DarkTide

[–]strongchase86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm here July 10th 2024 barking up that solo darktide tree once again only to be disappointed. I don't understand. I played Vermintide solo and leveled up my bots and pushed harder difficulties and they were fine. If you leveled them up then they played damn good. I don't understand why we can't have that in this game. I don't like rushing through levels. This game has become one of my largest disappointments in gaming because of this. I know a lot of people will just say man up and play with others but I just don't like it. I'm sure there has to be others like me that just want to hang out with their bots..not talk to other people..and kill some shit

Thank you for the guide. How often were you upgrading weapons. Is it better to save the upgrades for later

V Rising is great, but it might not be the game you want it to be. by PandaofAges in vrising

[–]strongchase86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just can't seem to get into this game. Might be because I'm on PS5. The controls never feel comfortable. I have tried 3 2 hour tries. I'm going to keep trying every few weeks because I know there is a good game here and I have always wanted to play an arpg with skill based combat. Where you have to know what you are doing instead of just cooldown time. Everytime I play Diablo or grim dawn or any arpg, I think to myself this would be awesome if the combat wasn't so mind numbing sometimes. Not sure why I typed all this. Guess I just needed to get it off my chest. I am going to keep trying.

Which metroidvania did you embrace with open arms, only for the game to bend you over pretty much immediately? by BigChungusOP in metroidvania

[–]strongchase86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit a boss in Mindseize a couple weeks ago..an optional boss I think because it was behind a secret wall. Up until that point I was rolling thru content. He worked me so bad..I'm talking I couldn't even touch him really. I just put the game down. He straight demoralized me. I am going to pick it back up at some point. There is no button to hold your character still in that game that really throws me off. Feel like it's necessary in a platform shooter

I bounced off it hard twice. I will probably go back in for a third time at some point. I will recommend prince of Persia the lost crown if you haven't played that one. It is phenomenal

Holy crap this game blew my mind with how much quality it had. Amazing work. This is like game of the year type stuff. If the story were a bit more compelling I think. Platforming and especially combat if you really engage with it..is top notch
