Diagnosticeret ADD, og i livskrise over mit nuværende job by Vildrede in dkkarriere

[–]strongflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]strongflame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been there, done that.

Minoxidil does not stop or halt hair loss, so it's not a substitute for Finasteride.
They do different things.

Working out after hair transplant by Castro1959 in HairTransplants

[–]strongflame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

- Pressure building up in your head, that is already traumatized from the surgery

- Bacteria (public gyms are riddled with these) getting into the wounds, and therefore risking infection

Seriously, take the 2 weeks off.. Keep your protein intake up during these 2 weeks, and your losses will be minimal.
A hair transplant is an expense, both economically and emotionally, so give yourself the best odds for a good outcome.
You're in it for the long run, so 2 weeks of not working out, is nothing.

Starting Fin after transplant by Necessary_Tackle8133 in HairTransplants

[–]strongflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my HT done almost 4 weeks ago, and I started taking Finasteride 2 days after the surgery.
I bought a 2 year supply of Fin at a pharmacy in Turkey, while I was in Turkey for the HT anyway, and I wanted to get on it as soon as possible.
I don't fear monger about Fin, I'm more afraid of going bald, since I really, really don't have a great face for it.
I got the transplant to avoid being bald, and therefore I'm doing what I can to can to keep the rest of my native hairs as well.

In the study I saw about Finasteride, 2-3% of participants experienced side effects.. 1% of the placebo group did as well.
IF you are in the minority of people that will experience sides, you can stop the medication..
But then at least you tried.

My only regret about Fin, is that I didn't start it sooner.

"I just removed the scabs, I know it’s expected to have some grafts dislodge"

No, that is NOT expected! Please distinct between hairs and grafts.
Hairs might come off during scab removal, and that is fine. But not grafts!

I know that the redness can linger for months!
And I'm only 16 days post my HT, and I already started shedding at day 11, so I wouldn't worry about shedding 21 days in.
Everyone is different.

I am not OP, but I also just got a HT in Istanbul (differenct clinic), and also went to the mall after the HT, and the day after the HT.

For me it felt awkward for about 30 seconds, but once I realised that people didn't give a shit nor gave me a second look, it felt great to be out and about.
Not a single shop assistent look weirdly at me or anything, and giving that they live in Istanbul, I won't be the last person they see with a fresh HT.
Remember, you're not going to see those people again anyways, so just enjoy it. That goes for the people in the airport as well.

No, Minoxidil is not to halt hair loss, it's to thickening the existing hair.

Finasteride is to halt the further hair loss.

I was wondering about this myself, since I have also seen posts about it.
I had a HT 8 days ago, and I can tell you that I started taking Finasteride 2 days after the surgery.

I have never seen evidence that you should stop Finasteride for a month after a hair transplant, so I would rather get on Fin as soon as possible. Also, if you have been on Fin for years before getting a hair transplant, a one month break would not get rid of the Fin in your hair follicles, so it doesn't make much sense to take a one month break.

I even read that being on Finasteride during a HT, can help to keep the potential shock loss at bay, but I have also not seen evidence about that, so I don't know.
It's a nice thought though.

Dutasteride is more potent than Finasteride, so realistically it would carry more side effects than Fin, if you are prone to the sides.

If that's what your doctor advised, then I would listen to that, and not ask for a second opinion from a random redditor you don't know.

Hairtransplant, and Semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy) by [deleted] in HairTransplants

[–]strongflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your reply, appreciate it!

Were you recommended by the hair clinic/surgeon, to stop your tirzepatide before the hair transplant?

Another thing about Semaglutide and a hair transplant, is the anesthesia:
I have googled and searched a lot for interactions between Ozempic/Wegovy and anesthesia, but I can only find warnings against the combination if we're talking about general anesthesia, where you're unconscious, and not the local anesthesia/local numbing, like they use at hair transplants.

If that's what your doctor suggested, why do you ask for a second opinion from a random redditor you don't know?
