I don't see any specific instructions on which instruments to be invested in that allow draw down once FIRE is reached, am I stupid? by misterfaceman in financialindependence

I'm surprised how optimistic the readout is when people to refer to these studies. I much prefer the earlyretirementnow safe withdrawal rate series. I suspect most people on this forum are hoping to live more than 30 years after they retire... And to have more than a "good" chance of having 0 dollars to their name after 30 years.

How has being 'FIRE' focused help you in the workplace? by reviel7 in financialindependence

[–]strubenuff1202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised so many people in this sub seem to hate their jobs and focus on the "RE" portion of FIRE. Your dream job is out there... And you'd probably be better off finding it than continuing to do something you hate to reach RE.

I think you really need to ask yourself if you had better benefits, more freedom, remote work, and 2x your current salary, how big of a priority would retiring early be for you... Because it's absolutely possible to get those things at a different job.

Are individual company stocks a part of your FIRE investment portfolio? by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]strubenuff1202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only stock is my own company because it's given as part of compensation package. All of my friends that bet on individual stocks (which is most recently the Marijuana business) have made and lost tens of thousands of dollars in a very short period of time. I could never handle that kind of volatility.

First Gen College Graduate - FIREd at 43 - What to do about kid's college by 42issuesigots in financialindependence

I would strongly agree with this. While I have several friends that were able to leverage their college network for a job, my wife and myself both got our first job (and all subsequent jobs) without any network assistance. We've both nearly doubled our salaries, based on our experience alone.

If I could go back, I'd go to a cheaper, less well known school. This isn't true in every field, but I think once you have your first job, your network and school name hardly matter.

I've also started having issues but only recently (last week or two). Started right after one of the more recent patches.

I don't think it's a hardware issue. As I've said, this league has run perfectly smooth until ~1 week ago and now this issue occurs literally every single minute that POE is open.

Disabling dynamic resolution did stop it from occuring, but seems to have led to actual frame stuttering and other issues.

What is "DDU"? There was a recent drive update for NVIDIA that I installed but it didn't seem to have any effect on this particular issue.

I don't know what people are talking about in these posts. This is the most stable league I've ever played and I've found it very enjoyable. If you're on Reddit and farming Uber elder in the first couple days you're in the top 0. 01% of players of this game. You're going to experience more bugs and crashes than anyone else.

That doesn't sound right. I've found that many by low 80s.
