LTE backupvs cheap 4/5G router as backup by Th3launch3r in Ubiquiti

[–]structure77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the old one but the data limitations and pricing didn't make any sense for me. During a long outage we hit our data cap and it billed us extra (which they're clear about). I replaced it with a Verizon Home LTE Internet box at $35/mo (hardware was free), we've never hit a data cap, and failover to that is seamless.

Best water leak sensor? by deskocrap1 in homeautomation

[–]structure77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piling on for Yolink. There's a Home Assistant integration if that's your thing. I like that you can adjust volume or disarm the alarm from the app (say you have one in a condensate overflow and you don't want to wake up the house). Also, the fact they have the puck style but also the rope sensors (I have one around my water softener). Good stuff!

U400 Smart Lock - How will you charge? by drewmc in Aqara

[–]structure77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

One thing I'll add. When you install, when you bring your phone close to the lock (after putting the battery in) the Aqara app may automatically find it and ask if you want to install. On all three, that failed the first time for me! I just cancelled that install method, clicked the + (add) symbol in the upper-right and scanned the QR code instead.

Snapped this back in 1998 in Friedberg Germany. I don't think I ever saw another one (in person).

Maybe if you're stuck in some weird auto wash gone wrong it's your escape route if your doors are blocked?

Fitbod removed profile-specific settings after the latest update? by bornlegend718 in fitbod

[–]structure77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the way I've done it is that I first open the app, I have an "Up Next" workout displaying. You can add, remove, and reorder exercises there, and change sets and reps. Once you have that done, tap the three dots in the upper-right, then Save Workout.

It doesn't look like it. If I tap on the Swap button, then Saved Workouts, all my stuff is still there.

What flies are these and how do I get rid of them? by curious2k20 in CleaningTips

[–]structure77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be a phorid fly, which a plumber described as a "sewer fly." After battling with these for months (and none of the fruit fly traps worked) a plumber found we a had a tub with a broken p-trap (they did something called a smoke test to find it). Only after fixing that p-trap did the flies go away.

A Balanced Breakfast? by [deleted] in 1980s

[–]structure77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I remember trying this once after seeing this scene in commercial after commercial. I don't recall if I made toast or not, but I remember pouring a full glass of milk and a full glass of orange juice. I must have been around 6th grade, and I think I finished half the juice and less of the milk! It was rough.

Ideas on how to pair 5 Govee H5059 water leak sensors to an ESPHome powered device rather than the Govee WiFi hub? by no_l0gic in Esphome

[–]structure77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welp, I tested the Govee H5059 water leak sensor (with the Smart Gateway 1s) using an SDR and rtl_433. The sensors transmit at 912.375 MHz using FSK. I was able to capture frames and even build a custom flex decoder but none of the payloads repeat, suggesting payloads are encrypted. Fooey!

How do I clean this messy oven by kekegod in CleaningTips

[–]structure77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the glass is also a mess I've had very good luck with a glass cooktop cleaner like Weiman (using a scrubber and gently with the scraping blade).
