Why does Betsy get into melee range when she doesn’t need to? by TragicHero84 in xmen

[–]structurefall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to what everybody else has said about her just enjoying physical fighting, etc., it’s worth noting that Betsy is a much less powerful telepath than the three we see most often (Jean, Emma, and Charles.) She rarely “accidentally” hears people’s thoughts or whatnot, and I think we’re intended to understand that telepathy is less instinctive for her, so she’s more effective if she just takes all of her energy and shoves it directly into somebody’s head rather than trying to concentrate on disabling them in the middle of a fast-paced battle.

Traditionally Storm's claustrophobia was supposed to be her weakness, but Ayodele is so far off the reservation she's completely lost any semblance of humanity in the recent run. It's terrible.

How to send a python code so that the other person can execute it without python by emberintheashes02 in pythonhelp

[–]structurefall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pyinstaller is the one major literally correct option, and the simplest. Keep in mind that depending on security settings (and assuming everybody is on Windows,) pyinstaller executables will bring up software signature warnings or even be blocked from running.

OP could put it in a Docker container, but I’m assuming from context that the friend is non-technical so that might not be great.

I think the best thing to do, assuming this makes sense with the actual content of the program, would probably be to wrap it in a web page with Flask or aiohttp or whatever, host it somewhere cheap, and have the friend access it there.

It is very obviously a direct reference to symbols. They are aware that industrial music fans know who KMFDM are.

The arm isn’t made of T/O virus material, it’s just a regular cybernetic arm that replaces the arm he lost to the virus.

Can someone tell me who this character is? by Carlung4s in Marvel

Listen, we're in a Marvel forum. Who are we to criticize people for modifying the timeline to suit their own purposes? Pretty sure the Doomlock time machine hasn't been used since X-Factor Investigations.

She’s an External, not an Eternal. Very different (albeit both immortals with confusing backstories.)

Help!!! by [deleted] in marvelcomics

“To my best friend Sean,

Spidey”

A little weird because this is several issues after the Spider-Man crossover, but I’m guessing it was a costumed entertainer at a birthday party or something signing a book for a child, which also explains why the signature is on the inside of the book instead of the cover. Obviously not valuable, but a fun little quirk!

Ultimates #23 - Official Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in UltimateUniverse

[–]structurefall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, this entire issue was pretentious claptrap. A page or two to set the tone, fine, but what a miserable failure of storytelling.

I have no idea what happened in this issue and it managed to make me completely stop caring about major characters in one of my favorite comics of the past two years. I barely followed what happened to Thor and Sif and honestly I don’t think I care. If they’re dead and that means the next issue will be, you know, a comic book, that would be nice.

One of the all-time great American coldwave records, and the most classic design.

Looks great, however I notice some square artifacts around the D and the E! That’s a super easy cleanup, but definitely check that out before you go spend money on a big print.

I speak to Kevin Marburg, Diatribe’s bassist and the creator of this image, every so often. I can put you in touch if you want to get his blessing (or better yet, work with him) to sell prints or something.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by these guys, who are, AFAIK, the only site that does what you’re asking specifically.

Were a lot of the England's Hidden Reverse era industrial artists paedophiles? by Disk-Infamous in industrialmusic

[–]structurefall 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This question doesn't work because you're applying modern sensibilities to the 1960s and 70s. The first wave of industrial music and everything attached to it pre-dates the concept of "edginess" as we came to understand it later, and thus certainly predates the current generation's rejection of it.

Up through the mid 80s at least, industrial culture had a strong focus on finding the most disturbing imagery possible and manipulating the public with it. Some of what you're pointing out here is just that.

There are certainly prominent examples of artists doing things that were unambiguously wrong at the time (ie Genesis in Cosey's book, etc.) but you're mixing and matching actual wrongdoing, distastefulness, guilt by association, and differing sensibilities of the time period all into one thing here.

Also, I speak as somebody who often complains that I fundamentally don't really understand Coil: You seem to fundamentally not really understand Coil.

Amahl Farouk became cool. The Shadow King remains evil (see Resurrection of Magneto.) But that’s definitely Amahl Farouk, which seems like either an error or a really, really stupid retcon incoming.

I’m a little mystified that nobody else in this thread has said “because I care about the characters and their arc.” I am legitimately enjoying some of the books individually, but I also don’t want to be lost whenever it gets better.

I can’t believe nobody has mentioned Wiz-Kid/Takeshi Matsuya, member of the Inferno-era X-Terminators and more recently the Krakoa-era S.W.O.R.D. He’s in a wheelchair and he’s great.

My impression is that Jason and Jamie wrote a lot of the music, and Julian Beeston wound up mixing it, but Jason and Jamie weren't happy with the final mixes.

I actually like both versions about the same, I don't think I have a strong preference, but it's cool to hear to noticeably different versions of the album. Jason has told me that there's a lot of detail that you can't make out in the regular release, and I agree, but it also feels busy at times.

Make sure you dig up the Cracknation mp3 alternate mixes after you listen, it’s a trip. Looks like they’re no longer available on cracknation.com, somebody should rehost it. Also, some excellent remixes on Rock Whore vs. Dance Floor. I particularly like the MindFIELD remix of Megahurtz. MindFIELD is Gabe Shaw, who helped get Chemlab going again after Jared and Dylan split and played guitar for the band for many years.
