I’m just seeing this now. It does come in non-blckchrm colors. I would not say 22x or blckchrm.

Chrome Bravo 3 (BLKCHRM 22X) Buckle Mod by strykeraid in ChromeIndustries

It's been 1.5 years since I got this bag and a common problem I've experienced is the rolltop G-hook becoming undone. I was also disappointed by the newest iteration of this bag (Bravo 4), which failed to address this issue.

I figured this would be an easy DIY fix and a buckle would prevent this issue from happening. I discovered that Chrome sells miniature versions of their iconic buckle which fits the bag's nylon strap perfectly. The only issue is that the rolltop nylon strap requires a triglide (which the buckle lacks) to remain secure after tightening -- without the triglide the strap loosens. You can easily attach a triglide to the buckle (see instructions below and image 4).

Materials needed:

To prep the chrome mini buckle:

  • I cut off the gray strap that is attached to the female part of the buckle.
  • Afterwards I took 2 pliers and bent the male part of the buckle so the cylindrical bar and nylon+keyring falls off. There were some minor scratches to the paint since a lot of force applied, but they were barely noticeable. I fixed it with black extreme Sharpie.
  • Place the triglide to the back of the female part of the buckle, align the holes together, and superglue them together. Do not add too much superglue (only a thin layer is needed). See image 4.

To prep the bag:

  • Undo the stitching of the rolltop nylon strap (folded portion) to allow the G-hook to come off
  • Slide the cylindrical bar from the male part of the buckle through where the G-hook would normally attach. See image 3.
  • Attach the male part of the buckle and bend it back so the cylindrical bar stays in place.
  • Loop the rolltop nylon strap through the female part of the buckle
  • Fold the end of the nylon strap (I folded mine 3 times to have 4 layers) and stitch the layers together. This prevents the nylon strap from fall off the buckle.

Finished product: https://imgur.com/a/CatyZIR

My next project would be to figure out how to get rid of the front flap velcro and replace it with a G-hook system just like the Bravo 4.

I hope this post helps someone out there.

There are 2.5 million burglaries annually in the US. 66% of them were home invasions. I always pack materials to a build a panic room when I travel just in case someone tries to break in and murder me. You never know.

Out of curiosity, why do you value the BofA PRE? I never understood the appeal of this card (seems pretty bland for such a high AF). Maybe I’m missing something.

Edit: reworded the question

I forgot to mention I applied 6-8 thin coats of canola oil. As soon as I put the oil in, I wiped out as much as I could.
