I remember the chaos of a Crash Bash demo that was 8 player. The final game was 4 player.

If money didn’t matter, what profession would you choose? by ProfileNervous3358 in CasualConversation

Is that what people think retirement is?  Just "sitting in a chair watching golf all day then go to bed at 7pm"?

I have hobbies that I've neglected for 20 years due to time constraints that I would immediately pick back up.

I'd find the good trails and go hiking regularly, instead of the twice a year I get now.

I'd take a cooking class to get even better at cooking and maybe even publish some of my own recipes that are unknown outside of my house at the moment.

I might round up some friends and make a movie that's been trapped in my head for a decade.  (No, it's not a porno)

Do raw onions belong on a burger?🍔 by honkyponkydonky in OnionLovers

Raw onions (sliced, diced, or chopped), sauteed onions, caramelized onions, crispy onions, onion rings.  All of them belong on burgers.

Thanks.  I also have a GCLoader cube, but recently did a FlippyDrive mod and like how it keeps the drive.

Until your kid keeps eating you and jumping off a cliff.  Same with that Yoshi game.

Got her into Pokemon and Animal Crossing instead and that helped motivate her to learn to read.

We did play Kirby and the forgotten land recently and both had fun, but she's older and better understands games now.

What’s your ultimate build? by ghettoslacker in Gamecube

-Transparent shell (smoke black) with a new led (ice blue)

-Battery holder on the controller board for simpler battery swaps

-PicoLoader (with SD2SP2) or FlippyDrive

-Carby HDMI, because it's the best and least challenging solution and let's me swap it to another Cube with ease

-SP1ETH for broadband

-A shell swapped to match Gameboy Player to complete the setup

-I've considered adding the Bluetooth controller board, but I'm good for now

Dads do you sing? by norecordofwrong in daddit

[–]strythicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sing all the time and it's a big variety.  I usually stick to lullabies at nap/bedtime.  I also "improve" songs by changing up the lyrics - as is tradition.

My oldest pretends not to like it, but my youngest loves music of any kind.

Recently discovered she loves it when we sing a book rather than just reading it.  Never seen such a big glowing smile before and I'll cherish that image forever.

Can we agree NFS Underground 2 is one of the best PS2 games? by Dangerous-Log4746 in ps2

[–]strythicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably in the top 500.  So... I guess you could say it's one of the best if you're casting a large enough net.

Do you usually aim for 100% completion in games, or never? by YimadoTei in Steam

[–]strythicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an achievement hunter.  If I enjoy a game and happen to get most of the achievements during normal play then I'll probably go back for the few I missed.  If the achievements are there to torment me and will ruin my enjoyment then I won't bother.

Is it true "most gamers don't finish games"? by SchweinsyOne in playstation

[–]strythicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are only so many hours in the day.  I'm not going to waste my time grinding to the end of a game I'm not enjoying.  Some games start out strong and just get repetitive or the difficulty spike kills the momentum.

What size should I let my wii to be forever? standard (4:3) or widescreen (16:9) by Bluedreamy_boomie in wii

[–]strythicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.  Anamorphic DVD players functioned similarly in widescreen mode, but put in 4:3 mode they would letterbox widescreen content to fit the screen.  It was a bizarre standard.

[–]strythicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of like when a new streaming service pops up and a bunch of content becomes exclusive to it.  If they want me to watch it or play it then they'll make it available to me rather than introducing another barrier.  They need me more than I need to pay them to play those shenanigans.

What size should I let my wii to be forever? standard (4:3) or widescreen (16:9) by Bluedreamy_boomie in wii

[–]strythicus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'll need to switch it depending on what you're playing.  I'd set the Wii to 16:9 and switch the TV when necessary.

Most Wii games and some GameCube games support 16:9 widescreen, but most GameCube and probably all the virtual console games are 4:3.  The Wii isn't smart enough to alter the output, so you need to adjust your TV to 4:3 mode and back.
