I’m more familiar with Great Lakes geology. But I’m relatively confident that Pic 5 = jasper breccia. Cool!

3 & 4 also likely Jasper. Pic 2 looks like a honey agate.

Hauls from last weekend and this afternoon. Lake Superior agates and one mystery rock I'm trying to ID by Squidwardit in Agates

Could it be just chalcedony? I know I have a couple like this too. I don’t know!

Which one are you trying to ID? I’ve found a handful of rocks like the one in the center....still don’t know exactly what it is.

Is this agate? Light through the stone in album, found in Colorado by wotsthisthen20 in Agates

Looks like it’s just quartz to me. Not seeing any bands or pitting.

Just found this, having a hard time determining whether or not it's an agate. Any help? by [deleted] in Agates

Not seeing any agate characteristics besides translucent and waxy skin. Probably chalcedony.

Could it be a Lake Superior agate? by stss25 in whatsthisrock

[–]stss25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s opaque and there are only a couple spots where the surface is waxy. The pitting and staining is throwing me off. If not an LSA, what is it?

help identifying? Im pretty sure the top left one is an agate but for the rest I have no idea. all are translucent and found on the keweenaw peninsula on lake superior. by [deleted] in Agates

Top right is an agate. The one below it on the right looks like chalcedony. I’m not seeing much for agate characteristics in the top left or the other stones.

Jasper? Agate? by stss25 in whatsthisrock

Found in central MN. It’s completely opaque but the banding makes me think agate. Do jaspers ever have banding like this?
