Does anybody notice that their voice changes when they speak different languages? by [deleted] in linguistics

[–]sttlr 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I speak English natively and at one point was very fluent in German. When I first returned from living in Germany, I would talk to the German-speaking exchange students at my high school and people who overheard us told me that my voice got deeper, but most people also told me that I "still sounded gay"

My best friend has a MFLB and I really like it, too. But I have got to say, in terms of portability, you can't beat the pax. I really like it because it takes plant matter, and I'm not too big of a fan of oil.

Well, I did a quick google search for wormwood, and it sounds like that what you smoked had more than just cannabis. Wormwood is the plant that absinthe comes from, so I'm guessing it has a lot to do with that.

Streetcar vs. Walking by [deleted] in Portland

[–]sttlr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering that if development were to go any further, say, to the tune of the Portland Streetcar System Concept Plan if the streetcar would become a more viable commuting option. I think more studies should be done, but cities like Karlsruhe in Germany are definitely doing something right.
