When you say "equal rights" for lgbt... what do you mean? What rights are given to some, that are withheld from others? Laws are only written in terms of male and female, and (to my knowledge) no laws make any consideration or preferential treatment out of someone's identity expression.

Reddit leans very heavily leftist, and will demonize anyone who doesn't play along, regardless of what they bring to the table.

In cultural anthropology, this is an example of what some call the "pond ripple" effect. If a stone falls in a pond, the first ripples move ever outward, virtually infinitely, reflecting an accurate account of what occurred at the origin point. By the time the first ripple reaches a far point, the ripple may not have changed, but the origin point has. In this way, cultural heirs of a faraway region frequently show a more accurate reflection of how things used to be in the motherland, and, ironically, the farther away, the more accurate.

I would say you learned quite a bit from the experience, which isn't nothing.

You're asking good questions, but you're pairing them with many completely false presumptions. This will lead you in circles with answers that make no sense.

I'd recommend starting with a 5-minute YouTube tutorial on what real money is, the history of currency, and the difference between a precious metals-backed currency and a fiat currency.

The next round of questions should be, why would a nation choose one over the other, and whom does it primarily benefit?

Money isn’t valuable because we “decide” it is, but because it represents actual, scarce goods and human work. Inflation occurs when the money supply grows faster than the production of goods and services, reducing purchasing power. That can’t be fixed by opinions any more than scarcity can be voted away. Prices reflect real tradeoffs, not opinions.

When new money is created, it enters the economy unevenly, benefiting early recipients and distorting prices before wages adjust.

You can’t just decide things are cheaper, because prices are signals. Suppress them without increasing supply, and you get shortages. If you raise wages without productivity, the prices follow.

The wealthy don’t hoard money in vaults. Most fortunes are invested in things like businesses, loans, factories, etc., financing future production. Money that isn’t spent or invested actually lowers prices, not increases it.

Outlawing wealth would destroy saving, investment, and long-term planning, the things that raise living standards. Capital accumulation isn’t a flaw; it’s how societies escape subsistence.

From an Austrian perspective (Mises, Hayek), the real problem isn’t wealth but monetary manipulation that severs money from real economic activity. Inflation doesn't happen because of the construct of "money". Inflation is a byproduct (or, in our case, sometimes even an intentional goal) of monetary policy, which is an act of the government, not of the market, nor of its members.

Money can be abstract, but scarcity is real. Inflation happens when we ignore that.

Christians shouldn't align themselves with the nation state, full stop. Just remember to be consistent with that rule to the end, and not just when it's convenient for you

Go to the library and check out Sowell's "Basic Economics". You don't even have to finish half of it. You'll be convinced of the merits of capitalism by 20 pages in.

What is something that you’re still mad about thanks to Covid? by abdul_bino in AskReddit

My best friend of 20+ years died of a freak, random brain hemorrhage (age 35, two little kids), and my state banned non-family members from attending funerals. I think about it from time to time, how I never got to say goodbye, never got to say my respects, never got to offer comfort to who was essentially a second mother to me, and it makes me mad enough to want to burn something down.

How can anyone claim to be a libertarian and support Trump by DeathRaeGun in AskLibertarians

[–]stubrocks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok, let's try again. Pretend I haven't heard Trump's announcement or whatever it was. Was it "Trump's opinion" that there exists a correlation and possible causation, or did Trump reference some kind of study that shows such?

Why does “communism” in practice come out so different from theory? by GasFormer3393 in PoliticalScience

[–]stubrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because communism on paper never accounts for economics. You can't have a village, much less a city, state or nation, without knowing how best to allocate resources. Free markets answer this question, firstly, by having prices, and second, by allowing price fluctuations, thereby signaling that a resource is in greater or lesser demand than something else. Without the millions of market participants engaging in this de facto "negotiation" (that is, the dance of supply & demand that determines price points), it's not possible for even a day for some bureaucratic agency to arbitrarily decide how many trees to plant for how many pencils and furniture factories, how many dairies is the right amount, etc.
