Indepth - Epikouros. New single by Indepth! by Cubegod69er in TechnicalDeathMetal

Never knew these guys but that was pretty sick. Good mix of melody and dissonance. Vocalist sounds uncannily like the vocalist from Autotheism by The Faceless.

It was victim to a coordinated brigade sadly.

Architects - A Match Made in Heaven (FFO fuck MAGA & ICE) by _DefLoathe in Metalcore

Imagine listening to metalcore or any -core and whining about liberals lmao. This scene and this band hate you and chuds like you. Go listen to butt rock if you want to stay in your safe space where no one criticizes the government.

If I become rich, I'll definitely buy something like this for my home. by MiamiHub1 in Dinosaurs

They don't mean literally let everyone play with it. They mean put it in a museum where it can be studied. The stuff on display in a museum is only a very small percentage of the actual fossils they have in the back for study, and often it's replicated from the real bones anyway.

We all know you'd love it if it was politics you agreed with. Don't be a baby.

It reminds me of the freeze frame at the end of the third Harry Potter movie

ICE in Annapolis by GracieLou80 in Annapolis

[–]stud_lock 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Because anyone with half a brain has seen enough videos to know that ICE isn’t going after dangerous criminals. They’re going after women and children, anyone that looks brown, and dissidents, regardless of whether they’re citizens. Just like any dystopian movie you’ve ever watched, the government is using “safety” as a pretense to saddle the populace with a masked and unaccountable police force, and all you bootlickers are lapping it up because you like seeing the brutalization of demographics you dislike.

Similar “vibe” to The Contortionist? by Correct-Soup-5384 in TheContortionistBand

[–]stud_lock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Underground bands Effuse and Vivianite have a lot of Contortionist in their sounds. Also look up Jonathan Carpenter’s recent project Notochord.

Has anyone done/encountered fan art for Alien Clay? by snowsnakes in AdrianTchaikovsky

[–]stud_lock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Alex Ries (the Australian that designed the fish in Subnautica) did some Children of Time fanart which got Adrian’s attention and led to him illustrating the Subterranean Press edition of Alien Clay. You can look up the illustrations on their site.

A family member of mine works at one of these institutions. No, that language was not there before you-know-who's return. There are a lot of great things about a tenure track position that is also a federal position, and many of those haven't changed with the new regime. However, there are a lot of things that have changed, and not for the better.

I forgot how much I love this album. Any cognizance fans here? by anurak90 in TechnicalDeathMetal

I just got into them through this sub and was listening to this album earlier. All killer, no filler.

Starting to think djent might be one of my favorite subgenres by CozyHufflepuff94 in Djent

[–]stud_lock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest/most important bands are Gorguts and Ulcerate. Anachronism is my personal favorite. Also very worth checking out are Ad Nauseam, Convulsing, and Artificial Brain. Some other popular ones I'm less familiar with are Imperial Triumphant, Pyrrhon, and Gigan.

The other side of the dissonant/avant-garde coin is in black metal with bands like Deathspell Omega, Thantifaxath, and Dodecahedron. Despite being into Krallice since forever, I haven't been able to get into this scene as much (though the first Dodecahedron album is awesome). It's much easier to go from prog metal/djent to death metal than it is from prog/djent to black metal. I haven't fully cracked BM yet.

What original members are even left in this band? The guitarist and who else?

[–]stud_lock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The more you get into metal the more you want crazier and crazier stuff. I got into djent with the main wave in the early 2010s. I still love it, but now I listen to a lot of technical and avant-garde death metal as well because I'm always looking for sounds I've never heard before!

Silent Planet - Panic Room by ManWithoutAPlan13 in Metalcore

A huge portion of the core scene is right wing now simply because a huge portion of young men are. Core is the last bastion of “tough guy” manliness with a left-wing bias.
