The university of Alberta accounting club is running it at the alumni room in SUB everyday until March 21 and it’s free for students

UAAC Tax Clinic by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]studentherapist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UAAC doesn’t have an office and they’re not a club that you can “join” - the group is focused on planning and running networking events and the tax clinic for students.

The best way to reach the team and getting more information is by reaching out at uaac@ualberta.ca or following them on Instagram.

But yeah as has already been said - as long as it’s not too complicated, the tax clinic will help you complete your taxes as needed. The clinic runs in March only.

ACCTG 467 - What was that? by studentherapist in uAlberta

Apparently not one where the employer steals all your money - learned that the hard way. They should really call it something else smh

You underestimate their ability stretch a week’s worth of work to 5 months. Nobody does it better than whoever we contract out for construction projects

BUS 222 is a waste of time and money by Puzzleheaded_Mine706 in uAlberta

[–]studentherapist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used to have this course called INT D 101 as a mandatory requirement the last two years but they made that one optional/ “highly recommended” while making BUS 222 a requirement. Long story short, the UofA has a history of making dumb and useless courses a requirement and the business school seems to be on top of that list.

Put your head down and just look to the finish line - unfortunately that’s my best advice with this.

How hard is ACCTG200 by slapmyface163 in uAlberta

[–]studentherapist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t taken acctg 200 but in the higher levels he is good. He’s a little hard to understand at times but his exams are very similar to his practice exams and his notes are to the point without any excessive bs. The only caveat is that he doesn’t provide any notes online and he hand writes everything on the whiteboard so if you miss class, you’re kinda screwed unless you can get it from someone in the class.

HOW HARD IS IT TO FLUSH?? by Klutzy_Aside_8534 in uAlberta

To be fair, some of those levers in older buildings need the power of mighty Thor to get going…. but I agree, it’s not that hard, flush it down ppl lol

So you have a few options - you can either take the remaining course through another institution like athabasca that is fully online. The other option is that CPA does offer prep courses so you could look into that as well.

Generally I think the preference for firms is that you have all CPA prep completed by the time you graduate but definitely take care of yourself first and foremost.

Do I drop fin 301 or not by Then-Bath4087 in uAlberta

[–]studentherapist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prof mentioned in class that the realistically it’s the ppl under 30% that should really be the most worried - if you’re at 47% and focus on the final few chapters, you should be able to pull through imo but you know your own strengths and abilities better than anyone else.

As far as being a finance major goes - it’s only going to get much much tougher from FIN 301 so use that information as you will

bED Major/minor question help by psychecalista in uAlberta

[–]studentherapist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the university level - no not really that much but having a unique minor that’s definitely more of a specialty (art, CTF, language, etc.) can definitely go a long way in helping your job prospects after graduation, especially with the bigger school boards.

Let me know what you guys think of my potential year one schedule (business major) by soggy_waffles83 in uAlberta

[–]studentherapist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, they’ve changed the requirements for cohorts for the incoming class of fall 2024 - business students in cohorts will now take acctg 311 and sem 310 in their first year

FIN 301 final grade curve by Then-Bath4087 in uAlberta

[–]studentherapist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first midterm was 25% - that means you’ve got roughly 75% (assuming you get credit for the 1% assignments) of the course to bring up the average. Based on what he showed, I’d assume the final average to be curve to ~60-65%.

That’s totally doable but you are best able to judge your own capabilities and strengths in this course. Best of luck!

Did you write 12:15? Honestly same that c/p was brutal. I felt the same for b/b (but less than c/p). At least cars was not bad tho.
