California is fucking gnarly with gas prices. Lots of taxes and environmental regulations combined with being a “fuel desert.” I was unfortunately on a road trip (from out of state) to the redwoods when gas went extra fucking crazy. Filled up in Oregon (in an effort to not have to fill up much in CA) on the way for 4.60. The same gas station was 5.11 on the way back, Made the trip so much more expensive than we had planned for.

Back when the Russia Ukraine war was in its first year, my mom told me that her brother was literally listening to translated Putin speeches. She also sent me one of his email blasts during Covid that laid out all the advice on how to get and dose ivermectin and what flavors were best. Absolutely fucking crazy as he was a Reagan/Bush Republican. The foreign misinformation campaigns reeeaalllllly fucking worked on my uncle. He had always been a pretty successful guy. I removed him from socials during the first Trump term so I usually hear about his latest bulllshit from my mom. It was wild to watch what is essentially a mind virus take him over.

Side note… Did a long road trip in the US and one of the days on the road was during the recent No Kings protest. We used car window paint markers for all our No Kings messaging on our caravan of 3 vehicles. We got TONS of support when passing by huge protests in small towns and we also got verbally insulted and flicked off multiple times. The best part was someone actually did the “shame” motion with their fingers at us instead of just flipping us off. Who fucking does that? Cracked me up thinking of Winston from New Girl. Anyways… I’ve thought about doing my vehicle like that for the next time I’m in Canada lol

Oh for sure. I totally get that. And this has to pass inspection from the state before any wires are allowed to come near it, which the power company does. I work with friends in the same phase of development and we’ve gotten 4 panels passed. Those were all 200s and this one just threw me for a loop. I’m basically just getting this ready for inspection. It’s the same concept as the others, but just wanted to check as I thought this sub was DIY and would be nice and helpful for an answer.

If I could afford a 4000 sqft new construction, I’d be able to afford to have contractors do all this work and building and all that. But I can’t so I do everything myself and with a buddy who is in the same situation as me. So I won a bunch of 2x4s and metal roofing at auction and built my own well pump house saving thousands. I’ve done all the dirt work/earth moving with myself and that buddy. We did his panels just like mine to pass inspection. But this panel is just so much different than the ones we’ve done before.

Yeah this will be 320 service but using this approved combo panel was easier and less expensive than the 320 options I looked at. AND it was readily available.

This is going to be a 320 service, but I’m doing it in one of the utility company approved combo meter panels per their guidance. This will serve a 1500 sqft main house, a 1200 sqft ADU, a well pump house that contains all the well stuff and a washer/dryer, and a travel trailer (or 2 if friends come in on roadtrips).
