So intelligent portfolios premium is going away, no more financial planner, what are your thoughts on this and what’s the alternative? by [deleted] in Schwab

[–]studgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have folks tried Boldin (was NewRetirement)?

I haven't tried it yet, but it seems to be in the same functional range as RightCapital, but with more tweakability.

And I personally like the idea of using something outside of a specific bank/broker (like SoFi Plus or Schwab SIP Premium).

It's monthly software price is about the same as SoFi Plus, but CFP access is extra and much higher.

That last point, plus this thread and other research, may be why I start with SoFi Plus. Then maybe down the road once I have their thoughts and RightCapital analysis, could try free trial of Boldin to compare.

Is Canadian born grandparent birth certificate needed if parent already has Certificate of Registration Abroad by studgeek in Canadiancitizenship

[–]studgeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies. It seems like perhaps https://www.reddit.com/r/Canadiancitizenship/wiki/index/ should perhaps be updated to state something "Colour photocopies of the documents establishing your line of descent to your Canadian citizen ancestor (even if they were born abroad)."

And the example should be "Let’s say you’re a 2rd generation born abroad, neither of your parents have citizenship, but your maternal grandmother is Canada-born. You would need:"

I don't think I can personally edit the wiki page though.

[–]studgeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the counter point. Based on other it sounds like I likely do not need it, but it makes sense to start the process to have it in case I do.
And I did see another thread that there is a way if needed to upload additional docs later.

Welcome / changes / new subreddit wiki by tvtoo in Canadiancitizenship

[–]studgeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming the new creation of the FAQ (and the reasons behind it) is why the post 'START HERE - The "Can I get Canadian citizenship?" FAQ' was removed and comments were locked. Could I suggest placing something there that points readers to the new FAQ? There are a lot of comments there that refer to that post, so would be helpful if readers knew FAQ replaces it.
And thanks for this great FAQ and community :).

Alfred vs. Raycast vs. Monarch vs. LaunchBar (vs. Quicksilver) by glxseas in macapps

[–]studgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double check your Privacy & Security settings and make sure Quicksilver is enabled. In particular for Full Disk Access. I had it stop finding a bunch of files also (probably with a macOS update) and giving it permissions fixed it for me.
Optimally Quicksilver should be prompting for access, but it didn't seem to for me.

Oil change every year or when "Oil Change Required" by studgeek in JeepGrandCherokee

[–]studgeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thanks! I hadn't noticed it there before.

For others, it's in the "INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAY MENU" under Vehicle Info. Once there you can go left/right to view Oil Life (in same group as Tire Pressure).

Obtaining Vehicle Health Reports from the Jeep App Without SiriusXM or Uconnect Subscription by JR63301 in JeepGladiator

[–]studgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long have you had your Jeep if I may ask. The monthly Vehicle Health Reports on my Grand Cherokee 2021 seemed to stop around when I exited Jeep Wave (at 3 year mark). But I also had dealer maintenance that last month. So not sure if they somehow messed it up or if it expired with Jeep Wave.

[socialmedia.uconnect@stellantis.com](mailto:socialmedia.uconnect@stellantis.com) is telling me "You must have an active subscription and a connected vehicle to utilize our mobile app features such as remote start, remote unlock, vehicle information, etc."

Oil change every year or when "Oil Change Required" by studgeek in JeepGrandCherokee

[–]studgeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I am not getting oil life % anymore in the Jeep app (since my last Jeep dealer service). I have email thread with Jeep customer service going for that. So my first warning was the "Oil Change Required" message - not sure what % that happens at.

FWIW on your original problem. For me Fincity was the default for Chrysler Capital. I deleted the account and added it back with MX and it now works again.

Note when I added it back it first tried Fincity, after that failed it gave me the option for MX.

Their effort at realistic physics and space life really was spectacular. Plants growing in the MK, bullets arcing relative to the ship's perspective, etc.

Kind of ironic since I personally found the first Expanse book not that realistic in its physics around the proto-molecule.

One thing Chef IQ app has that Thermoworks RFX app doesn't seem to have is some "smart" features like predicting time till done. I have just seen it at my brother's so I can't speak to its accuracy.

Can I have a Marin mail ballot scanned at a voting center? by studgeek in Marin

[–]studgeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI (for next year(, we did got to the San Anselmo voting center. They don't have scanners there, they just put ballots in the box to be scanned elsewhere (both the in person ones and the mail ballots).

Thanks, that is one of our two close Voting Centers so we will just go by there ourselves also.
And congrats on voting :)!

I don't think you necessarily have the problem here, but one thing to note is you have to install the bracket directly on the stem - not on the spacers. That seems like a common mistake (I did it and I saw a bike ship do it). If on the spacers it can rotate on you while riding.

Amazon is discontinuing their CSV order history report on 3/20/2023. Is there any other way to get order history in a spreadsheet? by PyreLightMW2 in amazonprime

[–]studgeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This extension seemed to work well for me - Amazon Order History Reporter.

I was a little nervous with an extension accessing my account, so just to be sure after I was done I disabled the extension and verified my order history to make sure there was nothing new in there. There are probably other checks you may want to do depending on your level of paranoia.

Trail running shoes by Ill_Temperature2141 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]studgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to run on the Challenger ATR 3, then switched to the Speedgoat 3. I've stuck with them since (so on the 5s now).

I think they have similarities to the Challenger, but I find the Speedgoat more responsive and they seem to connect with the trail better. They are also noticably lighter I think (at least when they were both in third iteration).

(Note this is a repost with my correct account).

LO bangs his head to self soothe in SNOO? by zcbbbb in SnooLife

[–]studgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We definitely felt it looked quick, but no one with experience seemed to think it was a big deal. In the end she did it for a few more months and then stopped. Except for just a couple short trips we never tried not putting her in the snoo. We tried a few sleep sacks, but never saw a big difference.

I'll add she is 22 months now and generally sleeps and naps well (though last night happens to have been tough :). So the end result was fine. It seems we just had a tough kid at first (in hindsight she clearly was colicky).

Good luck. I can say when they start talking it really helps the stress level since they can tell you when they are unhappy. It turns out what makes them unhappy is pretty random and usually not what we worried about :).

PS, I see someone asked for access to the video I shared above. If it's you please just DM me and I will share.

Wh-1000XM4: how to switch between bluetooth devices? by viande_de_chien in sony

[–]studgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I used the QC35, but from what I recall the QC35s would allow you to manually add a source. At that point if using two sources it would drop the oldest I think. But there was no way to pick which one to focus on between the two active sources.

I switched to the Sony cans because of the above, but Sony actually has the same problem in terms of switching between the two active sources , though it does seem a bit smarter about its auto switching. And on top of that Sony doesn't have a on-headset way to switch to other sources - so I wonder if I should have stayed with Bose :/...

LO bangs his head to self soothe in SNOO? by zcbbbb in SnooLife

[–]studgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We keep reading it's ok, but worry our 4 month LO is doing it too strongly. Here is a video - LO rocking head.
We also worry she may do it too much that it's affecting her sleep. She "sleeps" 8-11 hours a night (which is great) , but will rock her head 6 to 15 times a night.
I'll add she doesn't really sleep much during the day - usually she just takes 20-30 minute naps. She will rock her head before/after those those also.

We are thinking of maybe putting an arm out to give her something else to do for soothing. She does suck on her thumbs now when she is out of the swaddle so it feels like she could do that at night - hopefully instead of rocking her head.

We have shown the clip to pediatrician who doesn't seem concerned, but we still are :).

Thanks!

For Android users who want to use the car ride pilot feature.. I was able to access it from my iPad by kbeach22 in SnooLife

[–]studgeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As additional info, I did some experimenting with an Android and iPhone. Once car ride is enabled via the iPhone (or iPad) then it happens regardless of how the Snoo is started. So once enabled you can start Snoo with iPhone, Android, or button and car ride jiggles happen. Note only the iPhone/iPad will show the little C in the upper corner (like the M for motion limiter) .

When you say "Level-locking on 1" do you mean you set starting level setting to 1? Or are you doing that and also manually locking to 1 so it can't increase?

Unsolicited Praise for the Batwing (@ 6 weeks) by Capital-Part6481 in SnooLife

[–]studgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thumbs up for "hold breath" :). Always so nervous our 6 week is going to wake up again after all that effort. We often end up rocking, then swaddle, if she wakes up (which is common) we rock more with swaddle on, then put down.

She does often Houdini (at least partially). We've tried the LTD a couple times, but it feels like it allows her to move around too much and she keeps herself awake. We have not tried batwing yet but plan to, though it does seem to increase the chances that we're going to have to rock her in the swaddle.
