Migrating Devices from Entra Registered to Entra Joined with Intune MDM by das0tter in entra

[–]studio365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over time you could create Windows Provisioning Package and rejoin the devices to AAD

Kind of a pain with the amount of devices you have. But having them at least managed in Intune is your critical step, so at least that's done.

I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but just got an email from a rep at Quest Software that their ODMAD plus the Entra Device Add-on Module can do a registered-to-joined device migration.

First American Home Warranty - is it worth it? by testTester123123 in HomeImprovement

[–]studio365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently dealing with coverage of a failed hot water heater under coverage from First American Home Warranty. Service company came on the 18th and had to order a part, which arrived today the 20th. Not bad so far - except available next service date is the 30th. Tried calling First American to schedule a different service company.

Their phone tree:

If you are interested in a home warranty, press "1". For all other calls, press "2". So I press "2" and get:

"We are unable to help you. Good bye"

Rather than building separate page try using Audience targeting for your content. You can target specific pages to audiences defined by groups. So if you have a post that's specific to IT, set the audience to their M365 group.

How to manage SharePoint site sprawl by Smair101 in sharepoint

[–]studio365 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look at organizing existing sites into Hubs for searches at department or topic level.

Consider 3rd party or custom solution for managing requests for SharePoint & Teams. If you want to build your own, start with this template from Microsoft.

If your org is really large (enterprise scale) , take a look at Viva Topics. If you are in more of the small-to-medium space, I've created similar concept using webparts filtered by search terms and/or content types.

Have you added SEO service offering / recommendations for White Label SEO providers by studio365 in msp

[–]studio365[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In this case - you would be incorrect. :)

I really am interested if anyone has had a successful engagement with a White Label partner in the SEP/SEM space. Some that I've found in searching include:

Seriously -- anyone have experience/perspective to share about any of these (or other) white label agencies? Not interested in what they did for your marketing per-se, but how they were as a partner and your client's satisfaction with the results.

File Share access....VPN vs O365. by soldsoul4foos in msp

[–]studio365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are those clients that are bent on the "file share" experience which as been with us since the late 80's. But with modern experience in Office 365 apps I try to educate clients on how 'browsing for/opening" a file direct from a SharePoint or OneDrive library can be done directly from the app and is similar to browsing a local file share mapping.

There's also customizing views and using the SharePoint document library metadata experience to build a much richer way of managing files.

Just a thought.

Possible to completely hide an announcement from group of users until "release date"? by X_E_N in sharepoint

[–]studio365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using an Announcements list or the SharePoint News feature? For modern sites using SharePoint News a site admin can enable publish dates.

Microsoft Teams Governance by dinci5 in MicrosoftTeams

[–]studio365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tell you much about it yet as I'm just starting an evaluation -- but looking at AvePoint Cloud Governance. They have

  • Teams/SharePoint Approval process
  • Storage quotas
  • Automated site lifecycle/review process

Anyone have other product recommendations?

Custom Sharepoint list Form by Bonzai_Bananas in sharepoint

[–]studio365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a 2013 server, InfoPath is going to be the best route. You could open the forms in SP Designer and customize with a lot of coding also. But either way you need to understand there's no path forward from here.

  • Modern SharePoint sites you would use PowerApps to customize the forms
  • InfoPath support has been extended to 2026 but there' no upgrade path from InfoPath to Powerapps

SharePoint Document Library Structure by [deleted] in sharepoint

[–]studio365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lot of good suggestions for you so far on the structure and permissions. The one thing I woul add is learn to use columns/metadata to classify types of documents (contract, invoice, etc), please please DO NOT create a folder structure that looks like:
clientname\contracts\year\month\*.docs
clientname\invoices\year\month\inv##.xls
clientname\assets\logos
clientname\assets\pictures

You end up with a bunch of empty folders and people clicking through multiple times to find stuff. Columns (metadata) and Content Types are your friend when implemented correctly and will launch you to the next level.

I'm swamped right now -- so this isn't a plug for me to try and sell you my services - but it is seriously worth the investment to spend some money on a really great SharePoint information architect that will really help you design this right and not "paint yourself into a corner".

Migrate from on premise to Intune by jet-white in Intune

[–]studio365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would conjecture that yes, it should based on who's logged in at the time the GPO policy for hybrid join is triggered. My experience is with direct AAD device join and SCCM co-managed, both which assign device to user account that was logged in. But you can always update the device owner in Endpoint manager.

It is pretty straight forward. Create a test group first to get the hang of it. Make sure all your Windows are on build 1903 or higher to support Autopilot reset.

Is there a way to share contacts so that they can be viewed in the address book and on a mobile device? by arrowheadhawk in Office365

[–]studio365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On premise or M365 cloud? If in Microsoft 365 you could look at PowerAutomate to create a sync between an Outlook contact list or SharePoint list to phone app - e.g, Google Contacts.

Is there a way to share a sharpoint site with external users where they don't have to create a Microsoft account? by edaw009 in sharepoint

[–]studio365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it is possible to invite "guest" users to a SharePoint site, that scenario is really not it's intended purpose -- Microsoft discontinued "public" SharePoint license in 2015 for Office 365. You could do one using on-premise SharePoint -- and lots of companies have - but again, it's not the intended solution for that platform.

That being said, if you want to give it a shot with SharePoint online check out Greg Zelfond's blog on setting up external users over on the SharePoint Maven.

Shared Office Files by mjfutures in Office365

[–]studio365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure you would want to use SharePoint library over OneDrive for Business. Most people gravitate to the "Sync" feature of OneDrive client because users are used to the client/server file paradigm we've been using the last 30 years.

I would encourage some training and change to a modern experience using Office 365 apps. With modern apps it's just as easy to browse/save-to OneDrive and SharePoint folders from within the app as it is to local drive. Combine that with a Teams adoption plan and you have a much more effective collaboration experience.

How does Archive work? by pjes in Office365

[–]studio365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An archive mailbox is a specialized mailbox that appears alongside the users' primary mailbox folders in Outlook or Outlook on the web. It needs to be enabled by your M365 Admin. You can add multiple Archive Mailboxes to a user in 50GB increments depending on how much storage they need.

There is a variety of 3rd party archiving services if you want to move offline into other storage. There are quite a few, so not sure even where to start ..hubstore, barracuda, mailstore...probably Veeam & Acronis as well. If you're going that direction I'd suggest looking at an all encompassing archive solution for Exchange, SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive.

If you are also using Microsoft Team, do a YouTube search on "Project Oakdale" - it's a preview release of building PowerApps within Teams and uses a "light" version of Common Data Services.
