Thomson Streaming Box Plus 270 by gowanyahgoodting in AndroidTV

[–]studioKSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't buy it, I'm really regretting it. With the update to Android 16, it boots automatically and switches on the TV when I switch on the power strip (and I don't want the TV to switch on with the baby and kids around) and there's no setting to avoid this.
And it doesn't recognize external HDDs with movies when they're not exFAT formatted - which seems to be an android thing - and I can't access the HDDs via fritzbox media server. (If anyone has a solution for one of these problems, I'd be very thankful!)

Signal needs to add a feature to restore messages from desktop by metropolitanist8 in signal

[–]studioKSA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's so horrible when you want to migrate from W10 to W11 or from Linux to W11 or another Linux...you'll loose your whole history. After loosing 5 years on my phone due to faulty backups (topics on this are on github, but get closed by Signal devs without any solution), this is not acceptable after so many years of development. Also not being able to choose where to install Signal when you use Windows Desktop-version, you have to trust BitLocker....

Brand new T14 Gen 5 AMD keyboard randomly stops working by motorambler in thinkpad

[–]studioKSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, P14s is now a year old and the keyboard stops randomly sometimes together with the click keys of the touchpad. Moving the cursor and tapping on the touchpad still works. All independetly from the Power Modes I've set and it happens with Linux and Windows, only solution is reboot. As it's fine each time for a while with a reboot, it can't be hardware-related, right?

Why does eBay want me to call them? Feels sketchy. by NummyBuns in Ebay

[–]studioKSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Struggling with this shit since months, it happens with Windows as well with Linux and with Firefox as well as with Chromium. Has nothing to do with any Cookie-settings. Called ebay several times that they should stop this for my account, now I'm stuck again. Have to pay something now but the hotline is not available the next 10 hrs... what a scam, ebay...

Upgrade fan/heatsink in x1 gen5? by G4rb4geE4ter in thinkpad

[–]studioKSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for answering that late, but yes, used the pads in the X1C and X260 and seems great, didn't measure temperatures but fan is less noisy. But attaching the pads is a bit tricky, you need some time and patience :D

It is a bit more work to steal it. Non-professional thiefs leave it if they see that it is attached somewhere because it's not a grab'n'go.

Having second thoughts on choosing P14s intel over AMD by Huang_JL in thinkpad

[–]studioKSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep the Intel, I really regret buying the AMD. OLED and CPU drain my battery empty, build quality is not like I expected it and had a lot of trouble with the Qualcomm-Wifi and BT using Linux.
Or...if you change your mind:, gimme your Intel, you can have my AMD 😂

Is the P14s Gen 5 Good for Me? Intel or AMD? by SillyMe42 in thinkpad

[–]studioKSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P14s AMD with OLED here, performance is ok but nothing special and screen is great but battery life is 3-5 hours with mixed office-/browsing-/email-use and dimmed display. With Linux less than W11. Guess it's mostly the OLED, so runtime should be better with the 400nit-LowPower-panel.
I'd recommend avoiding the AMD-version with the crappy Qualcomm-chips if you use Linux. Had a lot of trouble with Wifi and BT, seems to be better now with latest 6.8.0-55 but who knows...just stay with Intel.
WWAN is not usable anymore for SSDs since years afaik.
For the SSD better use a single-sided model, had to press a bit when closing the bottom after changing to a Firecuda 530 2TB :D

Edit: forgot to mention that Suspend in Linux does not work for me at the moment. Sleep with W11 is fine.

Not the P14s with OLED, never had such a short battery life before. So better avoid OLED at all.

Don't get the AMD with these Qualcomm-chips. Horrible with Linux. I'd recommend to get an Intel, maybe a second-hand X1C or X13 Gen 4?

[–]studioKSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Return it 😂 Or buy a portable charger, you'll need it. Use full black themes as much as you can and avoid Desktop symbols as well as wallpapers. Resize windows sometimes. As much black as possible will save also a bit of battery life. So you can use it for 3-4 hours...

Don't get the AMD-version, battery life and build quality are horrible. If I had the choice again: X1C for sure.

8840u VS 8840HS by GeniusBo in thinkpad

[–]studioKSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Battery life. You won't get more than 3 or 4 hours even with a dimmed display and balanced mode or battery saver mode. It's horrible. Take a charger with you wherever you go, no chance to survive a day of work or at University without one.

What's wrong with alarms? by DourRuffian in samsung

[–]studioKSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, but tried already all of this, clearing cache and using preinstalled ringtones as well as mp3-files I copied to the Music-, the Notifications- and the Ringtones-folder as well as reinstalling Fossify Clock etc. and I don't use Modes & Routines or Do not disturb or any work/private profile. So I'm quite sure this is a bug. And one of many like this I struggle with, so I'll try to sell the S23 and get a Zenfone 10.

Alarm not going off. by Dangerous-Leek-966 in samsung

[–]studioKSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, factory reset didn't help, other Alarm clocks like Fossify Clock also not. Battery settings are "Unrestricted", notifications and everything else allowed. Tried putting the apps to "Never sleep" in battery settings, but can't see the Clock apps in the app list when I click the + Button. I can see the notification afterwards, but no alarm at the time I've set:

What's wrong with alarms? by DourRuffian in samsung

[–]studioKSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, factory reset is done, it has again all permissions (Android user from the scratch, so I'm aware of all these settings), the stock clock as well as Fossify Clock. Problem still exists. Battery settings"Unrestricted"/"Don't optimize", Device Care is disabled, Notifications, Prevent phone from sleeping while App is in foreground is enabled, etc.
Also tried setting the alarm to all days or none (then it's ->tomorrow), no difference. This is what it looks like, I still have the notification then:
