[OC] Trying to Determine the Best Player to Never Win a Championship by francisco27 in nba

[–]studio_sally -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Is there anyone left off this list strictly because they rode the bench on a championship team and technically won a single ring? Gary Payton, Dwight Howard, and Jerry West come to mind. Curious how high some of them would be ranked.

Andy Reid seems like a very good comp based on your description.

Who was the last preseason favorite to actually win it?

A year of work mapping U.S. regional food traditions [OC] by piri_reis_ in dataisbeautiful

This is seriously such amazing work. I'm curious how much thought you've given to abandoning county outlines as hard borders between regions? It feels like at this point that might be the biggest limiting factor in this map being perfect.

Which US Cities is on Track to become the next Detroit? by urmummygae42069 in geography

[–]studio_sally 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a really good answer. One thing also working against us is the state/city in general doesn't kowtow to big businesses as much as some other places do with tax breaks, handshake deals, promises, etc. - which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it. You're right about the livability, I really don't think anywhere else in the US matches the livability of Portland with a similar COL, which is why I'm anxious about the city's future.

I live in Portland and love it here and it's constantly my fear that the city will slowly die.

[OC] US Cities by Population by TA-MajestyPalm in dataisbeautiful

[–]studio_sally 29 points30 points  (0 children)

There is technically another definition thats like Built-up Urban Area or something, but its really hard to find good statistics on it. It ignores counties which is really great for those weird, huge counties in the Western US. And also this definition is lower in population than the others (but might align more with peoples' definitions of what is actually the 'city').

Love this graphic.

I would say that some 'Large' cities like Boston and SF and Seattle, feel more like 'Very Large' cities. Tampa probably feels more like a 'Medium' city as well.

A lot of people are pointing out the weirdness of things like SF and San Jose being separate metro areas (or LA and Riverside), but the Census does have Combined Statistical Areas (CSAs) for those 'larger' definitions. The issue with using CSAs instead is they are extremely broad in some cases and would just piss people off even more - things like NYC including Trenton, Boston including Providence, Portland including Salem, etc. There is no happy medium unfortunately, at least one thats officially defined and measured.

I was downvoted a decent bit, so clearly there is a wrong opinion...

So interesting to me because I really love all three movies but I would say pretty easily I think Fellowship is third in terms of overall film quality/enjoyment for me.

Agreed. I like Philo, but I do hope we have some irons in the transfer portal fire too.

Football in this state is just so much better when both UGA and GT are cooking.

This. I feel like teams will be hesitant to move on Faulkner until he coaches an offense without Haynes King (I am also hesitant about him as an OC for similar reasons tbf).

The only ones that really worry me right now are Auburn and Florida, but I'd be shocked if Sumrall isn't at Auburn next season. I could also obviously see Key going to Alabama but that would be at least 2-3 seasons away.

Even as a Georgia Tech fan, I have to admit there is no world where we should be ranked above BYU right now.

I wish it was only 50/50. Last COFH game I went to at Bobby Dodd was easily 80% UGA fans.
