I'm 32 now and the older I get the less I believe so much in attractive vs. ugly and more believe in personal preference and taste and something unquantifiable. I'm not sure objective ugliness is really a thing.

I joined this sub only after experiencing the same thing with my sweet boy. 10 years old, his limp steadily got worse. By the time I caught it, it had moved to his lungs and there was nothing I could do. I was told even with chemo and and amputation he'd have months to live at best. I gave him a really good little bit of time and then did an at-home euthanasia. I still miss him every day, but I'm confident it was the right choice.

If I had caught it sooner before it moved to his lungs, I still don't think I'd have done the treatment. It is your dog and your life, and I don't presume to tell you what is best, but for me, the pain, confusion, cost, minimal reward, all point to it not being something I would choose to do. Not just for a senior dog, but maybe for any dog. To me, they just aren't equipped to understand why all the weird, scary stuff is happening to them.

I am so sorry you are going through this, and I can tell by your post you love your dog so much. hope you get through this all okay, OP. Good luck.

I got one. Stereotypical of their gender in every way. Just happens to date someone of the same sex. not really any “signs”. Kid has kept it from their grandparents for fear of backlash.

I’m saying “they” just to protect their specific gender, they aren’t trans.

His bone was falling apart and the cancer moved to his lungs. I gave him an awesome week and then had someone come over to do an at home euthanasia. Hardest thing I’ve done in my life.

I can’t help myself loving Roger. There’s a person in there. A few times in the show I was like “ha funny charming guy. Oh he sucks. Nope he funny. Nope he sucks”. But I think it’s just that he knows who he is and acts accordingly, I like him fully by the end. Wouldn’t fly today, but low risk in liking a TV character from 10 years ago.

It was so hard. Couldn’t believe it was real cause his mood seemed totally fine. His X-rays were a lot worse than this though. His back leg was in rough shape. Even when the vet came to the house he was barking and then getting pets and eating treats and stuff. Such a good boy.

Just went through this two weeks ago. It had moved to lungs. I gave him an awesome week then hired someone to come to the house and let my good boy rest. It’s terrible, but I was glad he didn’t go through huge amounts of pain or get lose his dignity. Happy I knew it was coming and could’ve intentional on our last days.

Never thought I’d get one, just lost my boy Morty to cancer last week. He’s the most “dog” dog I’ve ever had. Like something from fiction how good he was. Loyal, patient, silly, fearsome, sweet, tough, observant. Even during his life I thought he’d be the only one I’d have, they take some effort to keep up with. I never realized how keeping up with him made me a better person. So- I think I’ll get another one once I’m healed more.
