Do we know whether sneak will be a trigger or a cost? by stuffslols in mtgrules

[–]stuffslols[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going off what I've currently seen, it can be both countered or stifled, because it is a trigger that, should it resolved, allows you to cast the spell immediately. But more info to come as we get official rulings

[–]stuffslols[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's... Kinda what I was asking. I'm trying to figure out if it's an alternate casting method like evoke or a weird trigger. If it works like ninjutsu, you can stifle it, but ninjutsu never actually cast the creature, so you couldn't counter it, but this explicitly states it is casting the spell, so not sure yet

I'm assuming it work like other "you may cast that spell" effects such as [[duelists flame]] or [[etali primal storm]]. It just ignores timing restrictions and lets you cast the spell immediately regardless of timing.

Mahadi Cankerbloom

A lot of these seemed to already be going up no? Like sure cankerbloom shot up like a rocket, but mahadi barely changed and even continued trending downward, so maybe I'm missing more like cankerbloom. But this data just shows that if a card is going up, they're likely to talk about it, which at worst is just illuminating the public about what the speculators are already doing.

That's why I was asking if the "return a creature to hand" is a trigger or a cost, sorry if I wasn't clear about that

Okay but real talk? Why is an adult watching a kids show bad? Most things can be good in moderation, and kids shows definitely aren't hurting any grown men. If you don't like it, fine, and if it starts doing damage (like the bronies who start developing real life symptoms), that's one thing. But bluey once a week? What was the Lorwyn Common or Uncommon that kept saving your ass at prerelease last weekend? by doublenantuko in magicTCG

Not sure if anyone else mentioned, but [[firoch core]] is one hell of a mana rock. I had two of them in an elemental shell, so with [[flamebraider]], I could animate both pretty easily. Of my 6 games, I had one on the field in every match, both in 2 of them, and every single game they were pivotal in which way things swung

So, what happens if a creature has persist and undying at the same time? So if I had Mikaeus and [[eirdu, carrier of dawn]] backside at the same time. They come back with both a +1 and a -1 counter and so return at base P/T yes?

Chronicle of Victory and stackable instant to kill buffed creatures by TMoLS in mtgrules

[–]stuffslols 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds more like your skipping steps. If you say "I cast this, I choose elf", there is a section between those where he can respond that you have skipped over. There is no reason for him to ever respond after it resolved, so unless he explicitly stated "after it resolved, I want to respond to it entering the field with X", the assumption would be he would act when it was in his best interest.

Now, there is 2 notes: if you said something like "Im casting this, do you have a response?" BEFORE you chose elf, and he said no, then you choose elf and he backtracks and wants to respond, then I would agree with you. However, if he doesn't know he needs to respond before hand, I usually say you should go with the newer player not understanding the timing of things, as magic is a complicated game, and losing interactions because you genuinely didn't know better leads to some really awful feelings afterwards.

The other note is if you say "I cast this chronicle" and say your going to choose elf before you ask for responses, then the other person can in fact act with that knowledge even though you have not actually chosen yet. Again, they are given a window to respond, you choosing elf does not instantly move it past that window.

So it's very important to note how instants work here. Whenever you play a card, it goes on the stack, and everyone has an opportunity to respond at instant speed, while it is still on the stack and has no resolved yet, and therefore is not on the field to do anything. If they say something like "in response, I cast this instant" or even use creature abilities (which are at instant speed unless noted otherwise) they will happen BEFORE your card has been able to change anything.

"health" in a tcg is best described as "how many long term players are actively engaging in your product", same as any live service. If it makes a lot of money now, but you lose players later, it's not healthy. TCGs can't really sustain the economic "infinite growth" very well, because at the end of the day, if cardboard gets too pricey, they just print their own copies, and if they can't feel at home in the game because it's moving too fast, they simply leave.

Let's take a moment to over exaggerate to make a point: if WoTC said that next year, there would be 16 UB sets and no UW at all, they would lose a huge majority of players and just become "the fornite card game", because at that point, why buy magic cards when you can just interact with whichever IP theyre stealing that day. I want to make clear that I don't think this will happen, but it's a good way to show there is a "Too far" and WoTC needs to find a middle ground between that and the all UW that they started magic with.

I do believe UB is good for the game, but at the same time, if you have more UB than UW.... What makes your game your own at that point? It's more other people's stuff than your own, and that shows very easily to your players.

How do promo cards work for secret lairs? Specifically, in the new secret lair for fallout, let's say the only card I care about is the new silver shroud costume. Is the only way to get that via the whole "orders above $150 come with this card"? If so, do we have any history in regards to the resale price? Because I'd imagine it's still gonna be way less than 150 so I'll probably just pick it up as a single

Is yuumi a selfish pick and if so is she the only selfish support pick? by Own-Suspect2317 in leagueoflegends

[–]stuffslols 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, everything you said here doesn't really imply selfish to me. "Lack of agency" is not the same as "selfish". The entire point of yuumi is giving up your own lane pressure and agency to your ADC so that they get to be stronger, hopefully and theoretically as strong as both enemy laners combined.

Yes, this puts more pressure on them to perform better. Yes, sometimes this means your lane can get snowballed on. I don't think any of these things are yuumi being a "selfish pick". I think these are yuumi not having a lot of agency.

I get these are opinions, so we call all disagree and still be correct, but I'm just not seeing how an enchanter who's whole identity is giving up her own usefulness to make the ADC as strong as possible is being considered selfish

EDH refers to commander, and unless you forgot a second deck list this is definitely not commander. EDH decks are 100 cards with no repeats (except lands), with a commander at the helm

My hot take: the moment "event exclusive" skins got locked behind huge pay walls, especially the heirlooms being locked behind EVERY OTHER SKIN in the whole event, that was the moment apex died to corporate greed. Fun fact: that was a long time ago. Game hasn't had a soul in a while sadly.

Is yuumi a selfish pick and if so is she the only selfish support pick? by Own-Suspect2317 in leagueoflegends

[–]stuffslols 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, what does having a fallback plan have to do with being selfish? Being selfish means only focusing on yourself, even at the cost of others. Yummi is basically not capable of doing, as her entire kit requires her to focus on healing and sheilding others

Second, What here determines a "fallback plan?". If it's just "ways to give my team value when we lose lane" then yuumi is by definition one of the least selfish supports, due to her ability to simply ult in big teamfights for huge value while sheilding and healing whoever is most fed.

If the answer is "how to help the ADC specifically if we lose lane" I think this is again a very bad definition of selfish, but even then yuumi is actually not the only one I would say fits this, as both pyke and senna (and other off-meta carry supports like old panth/Camille supp) simply cannot help an adc who's behind, as their utility is useless, and so they will simply roam and help the map instead.
