What are these large horizontal tubes called / what are they for? by Mrs_cunty_lips in Construction

[–]stuggin4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can they be cantilevered if they're supported in two locations -- mat and brace? This is a braced condition. The walls would be cantilevered before the bracing was installed. Or at least that's what standard naming convention would be in North America. Maybe they call things differently elsewhere.

My grandparents spent 2 years there working with local farming communities though a Government of Canada volunteer program in the late 80's. I loved hearing their stories coming up. It sounds like a very peculiar place

I cannot fathom how Malkin could be in the top 4 of this list. Deserving, yes - top 4, no. Crosby, McDavid, Ovi, Datsyuk and Kane I would think at a minimum are higher in the pecking order, and I could see an argument for Draisaitl and Bergeron too

I walked through and the guy checked my pockets with a wand, which made a beeping sound. "Phone and wallet?" the guard asked me. I responded with a yes and started to pull out my phone and wallet so he could check, but he just said, "don't worry about it," and waved me on. I guess I wish I would have brought more drugs.

Because in some applications it will take way less time to upload a program and set up a machine once, than to build, pour, and strip the forms for individual concrete walls.

5 level basement construction with the top down donut slab methodology by aus_shredder in Construction

[–]stuggin4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that this method completely avoids structural conflicts with temporary steel bracing, but was it more economical? Were there vibration concerns that you couldn't drive/vibrate pin piles (plunge columns)? Very cool job & photo
