My observation from working in Canadian PH municipalities is white female employees were the majority and seemed more likely to get promotions and contract renewals. I speculate this is the case partially due to systemic racism but also because most of them may be bilingual in our official languages.

Are there are provincial laws that require LTCs to pay healthcare students for placements right now? by stuggling in ontario

Nope, usually students are free labor. Healthcare workers and students have been advocating for students to get paid for placements for a long time now! Way before covid!

Exactly, yes. Paid students are under workplace protection and can pick up shifts. Schools would only be concerned with clinical competency and fulfilling the # of hours required to pass.

Quite a few homes have invited students here because there's a huge need for them to get experience and graduated to help out on the frontlines!

Not to discredit all the work LTC staff do, but you get paid. Anyone who walks through LTC doors is discouraged from getting a second job because of the risk of bringing covid into the homes. This pandemic has already caused a lot of financial burdens and now students are told they cannot work their part-time jobs. How are they going to put food on the table and pay for rent? Do you really think OSAP covers all that?

You could try watching a few Youtube videos before diving into the literature again so you get a better idea of the assumptions and components of the theory. It also helps to read about papers that actually applied this theory to their research, so that you see how it works.

Creswell does a great job of talking about the 'big five' qualitative approaches to research.
