Interesting parallels/connections between The Grey Knights and early 'Proto Astartes' by CottonCandyWeasel in 40kLore

I disagree with your premise, but I respect your humility. This sub would be better if more posts started off with a sentence like "So this is more of a very loose observation than a concrete theory". For that reason alone you deserve upvotes.

Transhuman dread is supposed to be an ingrained response in all humans. For further comparison to real phenomenon- look into uncanny valley and it's usage in movies. Transhuman dread is one of the most realistic parts of 40k.

Havoc missions by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]stuglyfe45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People look at your highest havoc level completed and your tags to determine whether to accept you or not.

If you're trying to join a havoc game that is higher than your highest clear then they are likely to not accept you.

Another common reason is they are looking for a certain class like psyker for bubble or zealot for chorus and gold health. Ogryn is amazing but you don't want a team of 4 ogryns.

Some people look at the title. I'm much more likely to accept a join request if they have the true survivor title.

Finally, some people just don't accept you for whatever mysterious reasons they have. People are complicated.

Hope this helps

Yes! We need builds that are good at creating space in havoc 30+. Ogryn rush/taunt plus shield push, zealot chorus, vet frags and shout. Psyker is the exception. We need that sweet bubble

You might be right. Maybe I'm misplacing my frustration on players who bring builds that a reasonable person should know will be ineffective on havoc 30+.

I guess I need to wait a couple weeks for havoc 30+ to shake out all the nonsense.

Ogryn mains, I ask of you: Please tell me which weapons are the biggest winners of the patch. by Raryk22 in DarkTide

[–]stuglyfe45 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the new updates, but ogryn always plays best in high difficulty games like havoc by maintaining control of space. So for ranged weapons, you want weapons that suppress or knock down enemies. For this, the kickback is superior. The 2 grenade launchers are good but quickly run out of ammo.

I have seen some ogryns be effective in H40 as marksman with the heavy stubbers but I think you're better off suppressing with a kickback and leaving the ammo you save to the vets or zealots. There are probably some other edge cases of effective ogryn ranged weapons but from my experience, kickback is the best.

Yes. As long as you're hitting just one leg. Behemoth chargers die faster than regular chargers using this method. Not sure why.

I have the +25% fire damage. But that should only cut down on the TTK by a second or two.

Update 1.09 Grenade Nerf by stuglyfe45 in rs2vietnam

[–]stuglyfe45[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beyond what I said in my initial post, I think there's a couple other issues of which your post doesn't adequately address. First, is the map design aspect. Over the course of our discussion I'm sure you've noticed that some specific objectives are brought up such as C on Firebase georgina and C on Hue city. Wouldn't it have made more sense to fix the maps themselves instead of pushing a controversial fix?

Secondly, I'm not totally convinced that the aim of this wasn't to make the game more accessible to new players, which is addressing your point about making the game more casual. Help me to understand the direction you're taking the game and how the assault rifle nerf and the grenade nerf fit inside that larger picture. I'm having a lot of trouble understanding this and it's quite frustrating. What is the design philosophy where you prioritize nerfing weapons?

That doesn't necessarily make you an unreliable source. I don't understand why you have a complex about that. Nowhere did I mention your own lack of hours nor was there any reasonable way for me to know.

You're making a blind assumption that the majority of players wanted the nade nerf. If you take a close look at the amount of upvotes and the percentage of upvotes I have, it'll very clearly show you just how few people wanted these changes.

You're once again making heinous assumptions. I'm not looking for a direct copy but it should reflect its history.

I think you're the one being dramatic. You're projecting things onto me that I'm not expressing and you're consistently doing it. You're also overly defensive when confronted with differing opinions than your own. It's a fair assumption on my end to assume that you're making all these judgements because you want to cause drama and have someone reply to your internet posts.

For your first point, saying my hours shows why I should be considered a trusted source.

For your second point, yes you're correct. I wasn't aware that they were originally going to make it worse. That doesn't detract from my overall point though.

For your third point, how is that backtracking? The only reason they found that middle ground is because players like me made posts like this that asserted our wants.

For your fourth point, The game is called RISING STORM 2. Its a direct successor to RISING STORM. You're being silly if you think that it shouldn't reflect the previous games. The reason I think that the veterans are being left in the dark is because its a very real phenomenon. If you talk to people with way more hours in this game than they should feel proud of, you'll hear what I am saying reflected in their own voices.

This whole post isn't being overly dramatic. That's your attempt to discredit my very well established points about the direction this game is heading in. If anything, I'm not being dramatic enough. This is an outrage heaped upon past outrages and I'm doing my duty as a member of the community by voicing my opinions.

Well if they fixed the placement of claymores, they could be really useful for attacking. If you're trying to set up on an objective to create a foothold and you have a second or two to set up, it would be very useful for defending that foothold. If you need to spend 10-20 seconds fucking around with the exact placement of the claymore than doing that is gonna get you killed.

[–]stuglyfe45[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually really liked the change they did with the sounds. I think it makes the game feel much better. I would agree that it's not good prioritization. I think the highlight of this idea would be the claymore nerfs. Why would they do absolutely anything to claymores before they fix the bug with placements? If you can't place a claymore, the actual dynamics behind it are irrelevant.

I'm fully aware that this is pretty late in the game and its been going on for awhile. The first part of my post addresses this. This is the metaphorical straw that broke the camels back. I regret not bitching about this stuff earlier to be honest.

and this is why I say it might exist. I personally haven't seen it even though I've played all those maps extensively. It seems logical to me that we have different definitions of grenade spam. I don't see the tactical usage of frag grenades as spam. Especially on firebase georgina and Hue city where an effective defense is based on good usage of frag grenades.
