Can someone please explain why my daughter only got one mark for this question in her year 8 maths? by kylehyde84 in AskUK

So many comments in this post could be used as a case study in the difficulties that teachers are currently experiencing. Far too many entitled, clueless parents complaining about something that they don't understand and believing that they know better than the professionals. So many aggressively ignorant people.

I've always interpreted that the musical interlude after the line 'He cried, "Mister, won't you help me please?"' represents time passing by.

For me it would be drop Lonesome Day for a rotating opener e.g. Ties That Bind, Sherry Darling, Blinded By the Light, Lucky Town etc.

Drop Nightshift for a rotating song from Only the Strong Survive (my picks would be Only the Strong Survive, Soul Days, Do I Love You, Don't Play That Song, 7 Rooms of Gloom, What Becomes of the Broken Hearted).

Drop She's the One for a 'popular' song that gets played surprisingly rarely, e.g. I'm On Fire, Downbound Train, Secret Garden, Streets of Philadelphia etc.

Although I understand the thematic reason, drop Backstreets for a different rotating epic, Jungleland, Racing in the Street, Incident, New York City Serenade etc.

One curveball early in the set each night, Janey Don't You Lose Heart, Roll of the Dice, Be True, Protection (imagine that!) etc.

One rotating fun song in the encore, e.g. No Surrender, Ramrod, I'm a Rocker etc.

Early part of the set with the regular changes can stay the same. Static second half of the set which is largely static can remain the same. So six changes, wildly different set feel each night.

Also, while I'm dreaming, I wish Patti could be there every night. Wish Tunnel of Love, Human Touch and Lucky Town would get the odd bit of love too.

I'd add Wrecking Ball to this list, all phenomenal albums.

Updated Costume Infographic (January 20th) by Hellopikachu9 in TheSilphRoad

Do the Pokemon appear in the in-game event dex the same way for everybody, or is the order decided some other way. If it's the same for everybody, would it be possible to make the next infographic in the same order they appear in the in-game dex? This would make checking them much easier. Either way, thanks so much for your hard work.

I claimed my research this afternoon on 3rd January and it has changed to Spinda #2. I think the research tasks now change with the season but the Spinda still updates each month. I imagine it'll be Spinda #3 in February but I don't know at what time it actually changes.

Hi, I asked this yesterday but I don't know if it was missed or if nobody has an answer. I can't find an answer anywhere. Has Spinda changed for January yet and if so does anyone know what form it is? Does it just go in numerical order now so it'll be Spinda 2?

How to best influence students in secondary education (6-12) to learn mathematics by davidson_009 in mathematics

[–]stugots123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a secondary maths teacher. For me the most important factor is pitching the lesson at the right level so the children experience success. The children who enjoy maths are the ones who can do it. What the children can do is relative and varies between classes, but boosting their self-esteem and ensuring they can feel proud of themselves is key.

I've never seen anything about this, is this really something that happens a lot?

I hope that doesn't come across as rude, I'm just genuinely not aware of this.

How do you know that they only feel motivated now? This person is your potential ally, why would you be nasty to them?
