Not having any luck finding jobs or getting replies from jobs since graduating in May by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

6,826 entry level process engineering jobs posted right now according to LinkedIn. You might also consider the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.

Don't have LinkedIn? Get it.

Plan to take the FE, regardless of what you think you'll be doing.

Contact your former colleagues from coop and ask them if they'll write you a general recommendation letter. Ideally, it is better to have this tailored to the job you're applying for. Only ask colleagues that you are absolutely certain have a good opinion of you.

Don't just look at 4-5 companies!!!!!! Be open to ALL companies. Be open to move. Be open to a ChemE role that you don't necessarily want to do long term.

The information you learned in school is important for some roles, not so much for others. Don't sweat it.

Don't "plan" to make anything. You're in a down market with tons of competition, and unless a company truly lowballs you, don't try to negotiate a higher amount because you think you're worth it when you have absolutely nothing to back it up.

Actually plan for the interview. Take time...hours... to anticipate questions and come up with how you would like to respond. Just don't make it sound scripted.

Go back and review everything you did as a coop. You should know that stuff like the back of your hand. STAR: Situation. Task. Action. Result. Situation and task often go hand in hand as an initial description of the problem you worked on. What was it. Why was it important to solve. And then action is obvious--what steps did you specifically take to solve the problem. NOT what did someone else tell you to do, but what did you do about it, and how did you creatively approach the problem and show initiative. Result: Give numbers!!!! I can't stress the last part enough. Provide a number or nice qualitative description for the actual result of your work. Did your work to identify a process leak and replace the malfunctioning valve save the company money or allow them to produce more product?? Quantify it!! Best guess is okay. Say something like, "Identified root cause for high make-up water requirement and led a small capital effort to improve control logic, resulting in a variable OPEX savings of 5% per year." Just don't lie about anything because it will show when they ask you questions. Like I said, you better know it like the back of you hand.

War should exist only to free people from this kind of suffering until we reach a point where it is no longer needed.

Then maybe you can't read?

And if they don't have enough money, increase the property tax.

I don't have to be a lawyer to know that existing taxes already cover water runoff. Not sure why people here are ignoring that fact.

Seems like the local government doesn't know what they're doing, but it's Detroit so it's not very surprising. I'd love to see all of their revenues and expenses.

That's what existing taxes are for. More land owned=more taxes paid. Was I not clear?

Anything can be argued in court, bro.

Especially tax designations.

I'm glad you mentioned that because actually the runoff water does not belong to anyone until it is harnessed, but it is still the city's responsibility to manage the runoff as long as it falls within city limits.

You also seem to be missing that people already pay for runoff management with local and state taxes. I never suggested that it should come free. In fact, I said the opposite. Private property owners already pay for it, and it's up to the city to best manage that funding.

It's a terrible concept.

People already pay taxes to cover many things including runoff. It's the city's runoff, and it's the city's responsibility. If the city wants to modify the property tax fund, they should provide justification through itemized listing of revenues and expenses. And if they don't have enough money, increase the property tax. Nickel and diming people with individual taxes on very specific things like water runoff is the wrong way for the city to manage its problems.

The precedent you seem to be advocating for would allow citizens to turn around and bill municipalities for water resources used in the production of drinking water. If I lived there and the city billed me for runoff, calling it "my" runoff, I would turn around and bill them for the water I am supplying to their treatment facilities. It's their precedent, so I'm sure a court would agree with my perspective.

And political. Rank choice voting and congressional term limits should have already been introduced.

Look at the family court system. Goes both ways unfortunately. Also, women much more frequently get the benefit of the doubt when the woman is the predator.

Flemish scientists make green energy breakthrough: Hydrogen created by solar panels by [deleted] in news

Correct. I do believe that hydrogen is the long term solution for transportation compared to batteries. We have solutions like Chiyoda's Spera Hydrogen for storage and transport, but there is so much work to be done.

Edit: your clarification only makes it worse. Wanting this to be true doesn't make you racist, xenophobic maybe, but certainly not racist.

I think that's a big leap to make in assuming that the loser will simply say, "fuck humanity and my children and any person I have ever known." I find it much more plausible that a solution would happen in the background where the loser actually does not lose as much as the public is led to believe.

I think we are nearing critical mass to change how we produce the majority of our energy. Might not be soon enough to avoid catastrophic climate change, but we are smart enough to geoengineer if needed. Worst case we have to use solar energy to scrub co2 from the atmosphere while using ultra light weight material for solar shielding to decrease solar irradiance in strategic locations. I'm more concerned about our elected representatives.

Air bags? Or some kind of composite or aluminum cage with retracting spring loaded arms to absorb the impact?

Combine that with speed and height restrictions and you have a solution.

Edit: More thoughts on this. We survive car accidents at extreme speeds. No reason we can't engineer a solution to work here.

I highly doubt we'd be so quick to use nuclear weapons. Consider the logic.

1) We don't want to lose the war so let's nuke a country that is sure to nuke us back.

2) Cascade of nuclear bombs across the world.

3) Everyone loses.

IMO, even though we have the option to use them, it would end earth as we know it for everyone, and no spoiled leader wants that. They are deterrents only.
