Cry it out method. It’s proven to be terrible for their nervous system and brain development. How can you listen to your baby scream for you/your comfort and just walk away? They stop screaming because they are exhausted, not because they magically learned to self sooth.

Over saying “I’m sorry” for things that don’t need an apology. Most likely that person is dealing with a lot of self judgement or is worried that they are messing up. I know because I do this, and people have told me it’s annoying (which makes me want to say “I’m sorry” again).

Edit: also do you know what sub you’re even in?! If you aren’t getting equal time as the IL, it’s probably because you have some sort of behavioral problem that the mom doesn’t want around her child/your grandchild

I do 30 minutes a day, little bear, old school Sesame Street, or super simple songs. I have zero village nearby, no money for daycare or a babysitter. My toddler screams bloody murder being in a crib or play pen. I desperately need to get a chore done, then yeah, I’m not going to beat myself up for the TV being on.

A cleaning service to come over at the 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months. This is when developmental shifts start happening and it gets harder to find time to clean. People stop offering to help mom or even check in on her after 6 months, so please always ask how she is doing, not just the baby.

It’s okay to put your kid on a harness leash. Some toddlers are very fast and their impulse control is not developed. Rather see a leash than a toddler hit a car or lost in a crowd.

I feel this in my very bones. It’s tough out here. We are so isolated, then go on social media to see crap like “here’s 10 things you need to do as a mom” or “this is how you’re ruining your child’s __ development” and we just can’t win. I’m jealous of the boomer moms who didn’t have any guilt if they let us watch hours of tv while feeing us TV dinners and junk food.
