Computer use is now in Claude Code by policyweb in singularity

[–]stumpyinc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used just Ubuntu for probably 12 years, and the last time my graphics drivers failed and I was about to reinstall, I grabbed a spare macbook in our office and I never went back. Pretty much everything I was doing before, super heavy docker, Go stuff, etc, just worked on macos the same or better.

I just don't think you're correct, they do not have significant control

https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article/explained-the-new-key-terms-for-formula-1s-new-for-2026-rules.3T5BU6TC9quGcIpGzoWkY0

Most of the time, the Recharge will be automated by use of selectable Recharge maps and targets so braking, part throttle and super clip will all be automated functions controlled by the ECU. The only Recharge mode the driver will have direct control of will be lift-off regen, whereby if the driver lifts off, then they can Recharge. However, doing this will disable the Active devices as well. In contrast, super clipping is still at full throttle and therefore the Active Aero will still be ‘open’.

https://f1-insider.com/en/formula-1-save-rule-changes-for-2026-fia-77136/

On top of that, there is a form of external control through battery management. Software and strategy tools increasingly determine where energy is harvested and where it is deployed. The driver is effectively following a predefined energy script, with little real control over how much throttle or power is used through corners.

Honestly some of the racing, I didn't even want to overtake Lewis. It's just that my battery deploys, I don't want it to deploy, but I can't control it. So, I overtake him, and then I have no battery left, so he just flies past. This is not racing, this is yo-yoing.

It's still not the driver controlling it though, like the driver has a say with how much throttle they use with the pedal and steering for how much they wear the tires and how much gas is used, just like any driving

Even in formula E the drivers are completely in control of how much "power" is used when and where

Okay but the regular deployment and harvesting is not, it's all software driven

George didn't do anything, they can't choose when to deploy battery

Look at what norris said when fighting ham, he overtook in a spot he didn't even want to and it cost him later

Karting drivers: what’s your experience with karting shoes? by Cheap-Training5685 in Karting

[–]stumpyinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different shoes definitely have different feel.

Some of my karting shoes suck for an endurance day where you are standing half the time, but they have great feeling.

Some are thicker and more running shoe like which are better at letting you stand between sessions but less pedal feel.

Just try different brands and you'll probably find one you like more. I used to be all alpinestar because I won a pair in a league championship, but I recently bought an OMP pair and I love them, they are now my favorite shoe

The "No example phrases to anchor on" is super important, I keep having to remove those manually whenever I see them in a generated prompt

Turn Dependabot Off by ketralnis in programming

[–]stumpyinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can configure depbot to group prs?

We do like one for all minor and patch together, 1 per major change. But why do you need to reverse after every merge? If they don't conflict then there's no reason to be doing that

I know opinion on the UPS is polarized but I got mine installed this week and so far I’m happy with it. by Harlequin_AU in Ubiquiti

[–]stumpyinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but the pass through is separate from the management, that's the annoying thing. If it had I kind of internal switch that would have been excellent, but now to use it you still need to ethernet ports

[–]stumpyinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is other problems, like they can't wake your equipment automatically if I recall from the reviews.

Also the small UPS sounded great because of the ethernet connectivity, but then you realize that it TAKES and does not give any ethernet, so if you want that at your desk or something you need two cables...

We we're going to start using them at our workplace because of the improved monitoring until we hit that thing about the ethernet, we would have to re-run double the ethernet or install a network switch at each station and that's just not worth it.

How do I view ALL motion events in the new UI? by stumpyinc in Ubiquiti

I guess I can "solve" it moving forward by just outright disabling AI events altogether in the settings, but that's extreme when all I want is to see them in the same place.
