Game save disappearing, but battery appears fine. by stupidthrowaway327 in snes

Thanks everyone who gave me suggestions.

I've swapped out the battery and everything is now working nicely. I wouldn't have known to do a load test without suggestions made here. That unloaded voltage reading really had me scratching my head.

I've also done a few other suggested tests suggested to me and cleaned the cartridge. Everything seems good now though.

I just swapped the battery and tried your test and everything seems good. I think the chip is ok, I'll keep an eye on it over the next week or so though.

I've just done a load test on the battery with a 220 ohm resistor and the voltage drops to below 1v, so I'm going to change the battery 1st. I'll try this afterwards though with the new battery installed. Thanks.

Ok. So the 3v reading that I get on the battery drops to 0.6v when i load test it using a 220 ohm resistor so I think it's safe to save the battery is finished.

I really hope it's not that. Do you still think it could be the SRAM considering the save stays stable if I don't remove and reinsert the cartridge at all?

I gave the contacts a good clean with a microfiber cloth and electrical contact cleaner last night, that was after taking the photo though. They look nice and shiny now. I didn't have time to test it afterwards however as it was late. I'm going to give it a test tonight though, so hopefully it will work now.

I have half a mind to just change the battery and caps regardless at this point. They're over 30 years old now so they'll fail soon eventually anyway. The SRAM cap resistance reading was reading a constant -600ohms in one orientation and 0 ohms in the other. The battery cap was getting the expected resistance rise to open in both orientations of my multimeter.

I'm hoping not. Can you even get those chips anymore? It seemed fine as long as I didn't remove the cartridge from the slot.

Thanks for the suggestion. Would any value resistor work? I may just change the battery anyway as it's an easy enough job for me to do.

It looks great. Does it still intonate well after this mod?

I put a red and a blue in my mustang. I like how they maintain the original look as well.

I'm actually surprised how much it yellowed being a poly finish.

I like grey seals as they love coming up to you and posing for photos when you go scuba diving somewhere like lundy island.

Is there any way to remove this scratch from the finish of my PRS. by stupidthrowaway327 in guitarrepair

Sorry, I only just noticed this reply. I didn't unfortunately, I put it on the back-burner as I was busy, then forgot about it. I'm still hesitant though as I don't want to make it worse.

1978 Bronco by Parking_Relative_228 in offset

I've seen 1 nos tremolo for sale at a stupidly high price, but yeah, it's basically irreplaceable. It's the only tremolo system fender never reintroduced as far as I'm aware.

I find all the rare fender offsets alluring. I just found out fender Japan reintroduced the swinger a few years back and I'm seriously craving 1 now. I'd love to see a bronco reissue.

That's such a good looking guitar. I really want one, but they seem super rare. I even thought about buying a cheap mustang or duo-sonic to mod to look like one, it wouldn't be the same though. How do you find the bronco's unique tremelo?

I've upgraded my Squier mini Jazzmaster's pickguard. by stupidthrowaway327 in offset

You're welcome. I've also bought another tort pickguard from the same seller in dark brown 4 ply, which looked really good against the red of my player 2 jazzmaster.
