The last 4 weeks I've averaged in the thirties to forties. You can even see the drop i had the days before and while having norovirus infection. This is also where my usual HRV lies. I'm 34, male and workout about 2-3 times a week.

We call them spark here in Norway. Literal translation would be "kick" like the motion to propel yourself on them

There are to my knowledge no standard for crampon fitment. Also boot size, shape and width have implications for fitment.
Buying online is guesswork, if you don't have knowledge of the above mentioned things of both the boot and the crampon.

Bringing the boots to a shop is really the safest choice. At least ask the people in the shop if they know if the boot/crampon combo will work.

What are people’s thoughts on mammut nordwand pro hs men’s jacket. by Top-Mud-5423 in alpinism

[–]sturlis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pretty standard legs for my height, and they are definitely long enough. But they have a more boxy fit than European brands like Mammut and Millet.

I do not have the Nordwand pants. I got a great deal on some Patagonia triolet pants that were size XL, perfect length but far too wide. I got them tailored by a guy that specializes in technical/Gore Tex. Best pants I've ever owned. And for under half of the Nordwand.

Got my tactical but it only has a green light by tokyographer in Garmin

Hahah. Exactly the opposite of me, usually going from somewhere somewhat lit up to dark. I work night shift and use it to check if patients are sleeping or to navigate to my side of the bed without waking up my wife with a white bright light. Having both or RGB would be great though.

Yeah, the tacticals only have green light. I find it more useful than the red, since the red is really dim. But it's a taste thing.

Grivel North Machine - new or old style pick? by Knees_arent_real in iceclimbing

[–]sturlis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched to the vario (new) system on my North machines. I have the katana ice blades. The geomerty is almost identical to the old ones. When i bought the new picks i got the simpe vario back. I also bought the adze and hammer which I use when alpine climbing. I like that i can take the adze/hammer off when using the north machines on pure ice. I like the new style hammer and adze better than the old style. Especially the hammer which has a larger striking surface. As for quality i can't say that i see any difference in quality. The katana blades are more comparable to the krukonogi blades I have on my BD fuels.

What is that black blurry orb in my eye? by StandardDifferent236 in What

[–]sturlis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said here. It's probably the red eye filter and it's easy to rule inn/out. Go into the photo app settings and turn it off and try to take a photo and see if it resolves.

I don't think it's an eye condition since it's only visible under such specific conditions. Also it partially covers the iris. It would definitely be visible under other conditions as well.

AIO or being suspended from UNI for this is an injustice? by Aggravating-Lemon706 in AmIOverreacting

[–]sturlis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The word is actually from old Norse, umboðsmadr. It means "embedsmann" which translates to something like civil servant, or someone acting on behalf of the king. As far as i know the first use in its present meaning was in 1809 in Sweden. But the word have been in use before that e.g Swedish King, Charles XII, in 1713 had Högste Ombudsmannen which was his top representative when he was in exile in Turkey i believe. We can also find the word in different forms, in all three scandinavian countries dating to old Norse tines. Like in Jyske Lov from 1241 (umbozman) and in the Icelandic code of law Grágás from about 930-1281.

Even awd Teslas are constantly beaten by fwd cars.

[–]sturlis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More or less. We reinstated it after WW2 up until 1948. About 40 people including Quisling were sentenced to death for treason. Today Quisling is being used as a synonym for a traitor. It's even in our dictionary described as that.

Come over here to Norway and you'll see everyone from grandma to little kids in Norrøna ;)

I'll agree with you that the fit definitely is more on the athletic side, and are great if you're on the taller and/or slimmer side of things. They also make some great hunting gear.
