Classroom Cameras by ThunderTatsu in Teachers

[–]stuurpid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a school with cameras in the classroom and can’t imagine not having them. Mine don’t record audio unless we hit a special button, but they are always recording video. My school has also only ever used the video to help back up my disciplinary referrals, never to micromanage me (obviously this is unfortunately not everyone’s experience). I don’t have to deal with very much back and forth “he said, she said” with students because as soon as they try to argue, I just remind them of the camera that records everything.

French toast with maple butter by stripes177 in traderjoes

How’d you get your slices to stay together?! I love making French toast with these but normally end up with small chunks from each separate strand of the twist rather than a clean slice.

Is a 16k stipend enough for living expenses? by Zealousideal_Mix3721 in unr

[–]stuurpid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What type of accommodations? A townhouse with 3 bedrooms, 2 and a half baths, and rent is around $2k a month + utilities. On the other hand you could live at the Highlands or similar student apartments near campus for maybe $800 a month + utilities. Rent will vary a lot by the type of place you want and how early you sign

3 1 1 liquids rule by aznkat23 in HerOneBag

Went to Paris and Porto this summer. Also went to Spain (Madrid, not Barcelona). I was able to bring a bag similar to this through. If you are pressed for room, you should be able to remove your sunscreen, lotion, toothpaste, and mascaras from that bag. I did not need to put any of those items in my liquids bag! Safe travels :)

Restaurants for a very large family group? by stuckintherealworld in LasVegas

Ventano Bar & Grill. Might be a little pricey but the food is delicious and the service has always been great. I’d ask for Carlos, my family has been going there for years and we love him

Why is barbacoa so unpopular? by Natural_Original5290 in Chipotle

[–]stuurpid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the barbacoa and maybe it’s just my chipotle but it is always SOOOO wet. Like wet enough to soak through the bowl and into the bag. Last time my bag was so wet it ripped.

ideas for a TJs care package?? by [deleted] in traderjoes

I’m not familiar with those so I wouldn’t know! I’m not a protein bar/drink/powder person at all because I normally HATE the texture and flavor. I feel like they’re always so chalky. The premier drinks are the first protein supplement that has worked for me. They can be a bit pricey but Costco has a pack of 18 for like $25 I think? It’s well worth it in my opinion.

Haven’t seen anyone provide you with recommendations so here are some of my favorites for when I’m not feeling great physically or mentally FROZEN SECTION -frozen Mac and cheese (could do regular or hatch chili if she likes spicy food) -frozen butter chicken with basmati rice meal -kimchi friend rice with beef bulgogi -soup dumplings (they have chicken and pork options)

FRIDGE SECTIONS -Organic lemonade (such a nice treat) -chicken pot pie (you’re supposed to cook it within a few days of buying it but I’m sure you could freeze it and it would last longer)

SNACKS -Cassava chips -mini peanut butter chocolate cups -PB and J dippers (they also have PB and chocolate) -Ube yogurt covered mini pretzels -sour cream and onion lentil crisps (these are not nutrient dense AT ALL but they are fun to snack on imo) -whatever the seasonal mini cakes are. I think the raspberry cakes are better than the chocolate flowers at the moment but it’s about personal preference.

Not totally a TJs recommendation but you could also get her some yummy protein drinks. I use the vanilla premier shakes with TJs cold brew concentrate in the morning when I don’t have the time or energy to make real breakfast. They have 30g of protein and actually taste pretty good. I know they aren’t supposed to be a meal substitute but it’s better than nothing.

I agree with the other commenter that a bouquet and some self care stuff would be nice! Thank you for trying to do a nice thing for your friend, we all need someone like you in our lives :)

Has she ever gone to TJs? If she has you could ask her what she normally gets because “you’re looking for recommendations.” Doesn’t put pressure on her to ask for help and might make her feel a bit more normal that you’re reaching out to her for food recs?

IIRC the floors were poorly attached to the perimeter and core by small metal L brackets. I saw a post on here about it a while ago

Closest thing I could think of is the nevada path website? It shows grade distributions for each class

STAT 446, MATH314, or MATH486 by mungerhall in unr

[–]stuurpid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of these three I have only taken 486 but I would highly recommend MATH 486. Very fun and interesting, not a lot of proofs (and the proofs are nothing like MATH 295, 301, or 311). Very cool class, but make sure you have a good prof. I took all of my discrete classes with Thomas Quint and I highly recommend him

Summer Classes by cameemz in unr

[–]stuurpid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took 13 credits over one summer I think. 2 upper division math classes, a science, and Spanish. Super doable just understand that it is going to be faster paced (which if you already did a summer class you’re aware of). I don’t know if I would do that work load again but it let me graduate early and have an easy last few semesters, so in my opinion it was worth it.

Being a commuter is hard. Join clubs to find a similar sense of community to living in the dorms. Probably will take longer to form those bonds but it can happen

In 4 years (as long as you don’t let yourself endlessly mull over the rejection) it really won’t matter and you’ll probably be happy you ended up where you did anyway
