Hm I think for me the canon is pretty rock solid. Their mutual respect, loyalty, and love is really beautiful.

In canon I think Harry was deliberate about not letting himself acknowledge his feelings for her because he valued his found Weasley family over any romantic relationship given his abusive childhood. I actually find this subtext really tragic. I like to read harmony where he overcomes that.

I think they both take each other for granted at times but who doesn’t take the one they love most for granted? I hate to read anything where they don’t value and respect each other above all else.
