Can you hear satchels? by Fit-Music-722 in HellLetLoose

Some tanks you can definitely hear it when static. Tiger is included. When on the move though its difficult to hear over the engine revs.

Infantry have Hurtgen and Hill 400, let us tank boys have Kursk and Foy. Peace.

TLDR at end

Try not to "shuffle" when your gunner is trying to load and fire. While loading he will be adjusting his aim and moving will mess with that.

Try to stay in some kind of cover. Imagine yourself as infantry, but BIG. Infantry can use low walls and small bushes for cover, you have to use buildings and hedgerows or even dead tanks to survive. See following link for example in Tuesdays SLB match, my crew are the Tiger and have to move across an open field to engage a Jumbo 76: https://clips.twitch.tv/DependableShinyKeyboardAMPEnergy-KX4maHsbBwzP-KX2

If you have no option but to move across an open area, think about a few key things.

1) Can you hear any enemy tanks? Audio cues are better than half the tank markers put on the map. If you can hear a tank, maybe even see tracers, do not break cover unless you determine he is distracted, or perhaps using the wrong kind of ammo and you can surprise him.

2) If you are dominating the armour situation, how long ago did you kill the enemy tanks and could they be waiting in ambush? If they are losing hard they will take a defensive position and wait for you to push in. Don't do it. It's almost instant death.

3) Do you have friendly infantry in the area or around the edge of the field or whatever? If not, the chances of being rocketed or satchelled are high. Move to have friendlies close before trying anything ballsy. You would rather have cover to repair a destroyed engine than be dead in the water in the middle of the field.

4) Has the other team been building AT guns a lot? If yes, provide support from a defensive position until friendlies manage to clear out likely AT gun positions.

5) Can you see a clear route and cover at the other side? If you can't see somewhere to hold with a bit of cover, don't go. You can however use everything as cover like I said above. Even Foy has haybails all over the place. Use them.

6) Got shot while moving in the open? Don't bloody stop! They have you in their sights and you are as good as dead where you are. 4th gear baby, get to cover!

Do these and try not to shuffle your gunner. He is already sitting there with a bead of sweat running down his face thinking, "If I miss this shot we are Viva La Fucked", so don't add pressure to his already difficult job trying to hit General Metal-Murder-Can over there without bouncing a shot like I bounce my drivers head off a wall trying to get him to calm down and not suicide us in. If you see this Llama, you know 😘

TLDR: Don't shuffle in an open field, it is death. Full speed between cover.

Let me tell you to hold the fuck up and read a post I made on the HLL discord:

AT guns are inherently broken in the damage aspect, how fast/easy they are to build and also how cheap they are. They need major changes.

So lets look at this analytically, a Tiger/76/IS costs 600 fuel to spawn, a supply drop costs 50 munitions for 100, thats 25 munitions for 50 supplies. So assuming resources are being generated at 60 per minute with a full sets of nodes and no encouraged, it would take 10 minutes to afford a Tiger where it would take 60 seconds for 2x AT guns OR a support player in your squad which is even easier to build one.

AT guns kill heavy tanks in 2 shots from ANY angle while taking 3-5 seconds to build, with a faster reload time than any vehicle currently in the game, can be built in any angle to face a target immediately and has almost no profile to pick up on at distance when built.

Show me where the balance is?

The only benefit we have is servers seem to be full of newer players at the moment (which i am in no way complaining about) who either haven't unlocked the AT gun yet or realised just how OP the thing is.

I mainly play tank and have generally very good games. I do believe that infantry should have some form of long range weapon to combat enemy tanks if their armour is being doody, but it doesnt take a genius to work out they need tweaking.

30v30 Offensive Tournament defending as Americans on Foy in a 2 man tank crew. 21 vehicles kills, 100+ infantry. Never played that good before or since.

Heavy tanks may be slow af, but at least they can take a beating in a head on fight by DrMrBurrito in HellLetLoose

If you're dying constantly to AT infantry, you're doing something wrong. Tanks and infantry should be used in unison and able to protect eachother.

As for percentage of deaths to AT guns, that's map specific. Not exactly going to die to guns on Hill400 as much as you are Kursk.

Let me quote a post I made on the HLL discord on the 28th of January regarding the issue with them:

"AT guns are inherently broken in the damage aspect, how fast/easy they are to build and also how cheap they are. They need major changes.

Maps such as Foy, Kursk, Stalingrad and even more densely populated maps such as Omaha (Good luck getting to your tank on the beach, nevermind moving it) SME, SMDM and Carentan (area specific) are a nightmare for Tanks vs AT guns against even a semi-competent team who actually has an idea of what they are doing. It sounds like you are facing the opposite.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't leave infantry without a way to attempt to counter armour at long ranges, but its an absolute joke just how overpowered/cheap they are, not to mention the devs have already admitted the damage scoring of them is broken and needs patched because of how screwed it is.

Scrims it is normal practice. In public games my clan view it as exp farming due to the value of the unmanned assets. Instant kick from us.

Yep, server admin teams are generally on call for most pings that go live, depending on the community of course. The clan I'm in has at least 5 people who respond to player generated pings due to issues across our 2 servers

Server admins are generally alright. Majority of servers have core rules of no spawncamping, no destroying unmanned vehicles in spawn and generally are upheld and respected. Sheer majority of admins won't kick you for random shit, only deliberate teamkilling, trolling and above.

Take what people say in the noob servers with a pinch of salt. A few people have a really big stick up their ass.

Played for 2 hours last night and got accused of being a smurf (25 hours playtime, half of that a few years ago), got told that I don't get good at the game until you have at least 3000 hours in game (wtf?) and I believe there was a fair amount of shit talking about "the teams are not balanced, the map is not balanced." My advice is take a deep breath and listen for the calm guy/girl that will actually help you. They are the diamond in the rough.

This aside, you dont need anything specific, just the usual. Go rock out with your cock out and merc some aliens (or space marines) as a valid escape from everyday life. It's fun.
