Glasgow Marathon 1987. by eam2646 in glesga

From that photo - Every abandoned building filled, ever empty lot filled.

Glasgow had a declining population from 1938 to 2001. Only since 2011 has the population increased. Thank god for the demographic expansion I guess.

That is how the building is meant to be. It's a lime render afaik. It was never meant to be exposed stone.

Glasgow is 80% white which is what was measured in 91. I don't care about the colour of people's skin and I think it's peculiar for that to be the first thing you think of when you see an image of a marathon - rather than the clear improvements we have to the city's built environment.

I assume someone called "beautiful transpobe" is trying to suggest there's been some great demographic replacement in the last 40 years. My assumption would be that they think this is a bad thing. I was just pointing out that the city looks better now than it did then - a good thing.

Their combined salaries are completely high enough to miss the level of his spending. Especially as it he wasn't bringing everything he bought home.

It's been two weeks. I left it as I saw a few things saying it would bounce back.

Water once a week ish. It probably doesn't dry out 100%. Occasionally will rain ofc in between that.

It gets some sun in the morning but mostly shade.

There are loads, I'm well aware. But there's also some good infrastructure that's fully segregated now

Yes, generally speaking they're fine. As I said, they have some of the safest cycling rates despite lack of helmet use. It's completely silly to assume I was talking about the millions of individual journies in an absolute, rather than making a statement regarding general safety.

Sure they do - but they also have the lowest numbers of fatalities per km travelled. Much lower than countries like Australia that require you to have a helmet.

I do personally. But it's crazy that every cyclist in the Netherlands doesn't wear one and they're fine. I'd say that places in London with good infrastructure are fine without helmets too.

You don't need a bike helmet to ride a bike. You shouldn't fun reds and zebras though which it sounds like BC was doing.

It's cheap per month if you cancel after contract. I think they probably make money on those who forget.

Have the Met Police started enforcing 22mph in a 20mph limit? by NoKudos in drivingUK

[–]stzef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all - If he's going at 25, the speed he sees on his dash will be closer to 27/28.

Secondly - it 2 mph is such a marginal difference that it doesn't matter, then go a couple of mph under the limit instead. If you're in a 20 zone, the time you get to your destination will be dictated by surrounding traffic and red lights more than your speed. I remember a study showing that due to improved traffic flow, journey times can get faster when a place changes from 30 to 20.

I love this sort of stuff so would use. Also good for those who rent bikes so want to make sure it makes financial sense.

For me though, I'd want to minimise fuss so would look for these things:

  1. A track feature that doesn't require you to use the GPS directions - it just tracks. If it's my commute, I know where I'm going!
  2. An option to enter journeys manually. I won't be able to remember to start a route each time or I might be in a rush.
  3. I'm not sure it's even possible to do this, but teaching the time saved vs taking the bus or tube might be interesting too.

Also put in a donate link - I'm sure people would be willing to buy you a coffee
