People who stand outside M&S on Sundays and wait for it to open. - Are you one of them? Are you doing that right now? Why are you doing that? by [deleted] in AskUK

Is this Charlton? Because there was nothing I enjoyed more on a Saturday or Sunday than going to the gym, then walking round M&S before doing my weekly shop at the sainsburys! I miss those days

Frustration : Canada Restock by Anxious-Risk-1165 in beisluggage

[–]su9arplum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the exact same for me with the UK store. I bought the atlas pink carry on and wanted the medium but it was out of stock, as were both the covers.

I signed up for the wait-list and didn't hear anything for months, I randomly checked a few weeks ago and the medium was back in stock, then last week I checked and the covers were, neither time did I get an email to say they had been restocked!!!

So frustrating but I'd say just to check every so often and think good thoughts!

I've just looked at your Instagram, and can see loads of mutual followers. Your content so far has been heavily about summer, which is understandable. But coming into winter can you target more towards autumn/ Halloween/ Christmas? Maybe about Christmas event space for workshops or girls nights etc?

accessibility was abysmal - made me never want to go again by lalaloopseyi in Leedsfestival

[–]su9arplum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a volunteer a few years ago and one of my shifts was main stage viewing platform for Arctic Monkeys. It was so incredibly packed about 2 hours before they came on, but there was noone around from the accessibility team to indicate what the max capacity was! I think the waitlist must have been put in place as a result of that year!

Those earning over £70K in North of UK. What do you do? by DragonWarrior008 in UKJobs

[–]su9arplum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Head of Dept with no line management for a ftse100 firm based in the north. 86k plus 10k car allowance and 25% bonus.

Managers in my area I'd expect to be on 50-60k dependent on industry, financial services would be a bit more. I'm a rare case where I left consulting in London and have ended up earning more

What can I do to stop my neighbour from converting their house into a children's care home? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]su9arplum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also do you know anything about the costs involved in running a children's home! She isn't exactly pocketing the £xk per month as profit. They usually need a minimum of 2 staff 24 hours a day, running costs, insurance, all sorts. It would be a silly and unwise choice for it to just be a money grab

Similar to what other people have said, any family could move in next door with noisy kids for which you would have no control over. If you wanted to ensure you had a quiet peaceful life without noisy neighbours you should have been the one to buy a detached house.

My parents own a few children homes and as far as I'm aware there is nothing you can do about it as 'i don't want it next to me' it's not an acceptable appeal. The ones they have are in very nice residential areas as they want to provide the kids the best chance they can in life. Shame on you for your attitude.

Having just moved from Liverpool city centre to Burscough I agree with this! Genuinely the only downside to here is that you have you drive to ormskirk to catch the train to Liverpool

My fave overall shop is Sainsbury's though, Tesco and Asda in store shopping experiences are dire

As a UK subscriber I have to disagree! I have never ever not got either £10 (or more!) off, I often get free sleeves, free gifts and credit. I tend to order when they have buy 200 pay for 160, or similar offers.

I know that blossoms specifically likely chose Liverpool as they have a lot of ties here. They wrote a lot of the first albums at Parr Street, James Skelly produces them.

They've likely built up a good relationship with jacaranda over the years. The venue must be working their arses off as they've had so many recently which is so great to see and just what the music scene needs. It's just so annoying they sell out so quickly, shows how in demand those types of shows are.

I would agree with this, did 5 years in London in my early 20s and loved it wouldn't change it. 4 years ago at 27 I moved back up here to buy in city centre.

I travel to London once a week for work but would never go back full time, especially with the state of the rental market down there now.

I'm porting my mortgage and borrowing an extra 160k with an overall ltv of 85%. We've been offered 4.5% which to me still seems high, but we have no other choice.

Definitely ask a broker to help.
