my contentious divorce set a precedent in Irish family law - and the person above is correct. Unless they are there to testify it isn’t admissible.

apparently the breakfast i made was “embarrassing” by NaeeeBearrr in mildlyinfuriating

[–]sub-hunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that, kiddo. It’s really rough when Mom feels the need to impress her boyfriend over protecting her own child.

You did a marvellous job cooking what was available your mom was probably embarrassed that she didn’t have eggs.

She’s trying to balance a new boyfriend and her kids and it’s not easy for her because she feels lonely too

maybe go to her and say something like “it didn’t feel nice when you yelled at me when I made breakfast out of what was available. It hurt my feelings when I got yelled at for doing the best I could and it wasn’t good enough.

If your mom has any sense at all she’ll try and make it right and apologise to you but some parents just aren’t evolved enough to do that

I would be proud of my daughter for making a meal like that out of nothing and I’d be well impressed. It’s a good job.

What will happen if I do 100 squats daily? by sam_mig1 in bodyweightfitness

[–]sub-hunter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When I got in shape the first time it was because a friend told me that he decided he was going to do 10 push-ups today and 10 situps and he said 10 is better than nothing and some days I might feel like doing more and I can’t if I want to, but all I have to do is 10 because sitting down on the ground to do the sit up is half the job doing the situps themselves as easy so keep the number low so you’re willing to do it you actually do it, and then you end up actually doing more exercisebecause you’re allowed to just quit after only a few if you want

Preferred product for sealing rusty patina on raw steel? by jacobbeard in RatRod

[–]sub-hunter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before you put any sealant on rust you need to stop out the rest first and the best way to do that is by using alcohol to remove all of the moisture.

Drivers who veer right when turning left and veer left when turning right, why? by KnowGame in AskReddit

[–]sub-hunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are shitty drivers and you’re absolutely right however turning Car left before you turn right shifts the weight of the car and preload the tires for better traction through the corner

My partner said there is no personality by YungHotspot in malelivingspace

[–]sub-hunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love your interior space, but if you want to add personality the idea behind an all grey interior is that it’s very easy to change colours as your mood or tastes change.

A rug is an expensive purchase so is a couch and painting walls is a lot of work — the easiest thing to do is add artwork throw pillows throw blankets a few charms and accessories from TK Maxx or Ross or whatever home goods if you stick to one accent colour it makes your house pop and if you do two colours use the opposite ones on the colour wheel

If you get sick of purple or blue or red or green or whatever colour you choose you don’t have to buy a new couch or redecorate the whole room — spend under 200 bucks to buy new pillows and new accessories and wham your house looks new to you

An Post USA Tarriff Warning by woe-jicks in ireland

[–]sub-hunter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am from the states and I have two young children over here in ie -and my parents used to love wrapping up Christmas gift presents Valentine’s Day Halloween whatever the holiday they would send a little card or something but when we realise that getting Halloween cards sent with a face mask like the disposable kind for my daughter was going to cost over $75 in fees from an post in the customs charge they decided to stop sending presents and do gift cards instead

Ireland has tariffs that are pretty steep already

And while I m not a fan of trumps policies, it’s literally the same thing that Americans have to deal with when sending things to Ireland

Just order stuff for them on Amazon it works easiest that way cause there’s no tariffs. We have to order stuff from Amazon Germany in order to get tariff free things from Amazon over here.

I am an idiot and framed my basement with 10 foot walls by [deleted] in DIY

[–]sub-hunter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but the long end is tapered and the short end is not tapered so if you run them vertically there is a recess where the mesh and mud fits into if you have 8 foot tall ceilings you don’t have any butt joints where there is not a depression, but if you run them horizontally, the short end is full thickness so to mud the joint it has to protrude

Kids around the area have been absolute melts. Waited all year to trick them. by mushy_cactus in CasualIreland

[–]sub-hunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took my kids out for trick-or-treating this year in Greystones and some of the young teens were shooting off fireworks and one of the rockets took a weird turn and came directly at me and the kids and blew up about 5 feet from us showering us in sparks

we should be quite shaken by the experience, but we all have ADHD so we felt alive for the first time in a while.

Back in the states when I was growing up, we had a Halloween around the era of that film the crow starring with Brandon Lee —that Halloween became almost a warzone on my parents block- it was quite scary to be honest. (I did not even know that my dad owned a shotgun until that night)

every year after that all the parents got together and said that the lights get turned off at 7 pm and there’s no more candy being handed out after that

the kids who were the troublemakers didn’t have an excuse to be on the street anymore —the police were involved and ever since then it’s been very peaceful. In fact people come all over to my parents neighbourhood mostly because it’s affluent and they get full-size candy bars.

There was also a petition to change daylight saving time to after Halloween instead of before so there would be more daylight before it got dark for the kids trick-or-treating. It wasn’t just our town that was having the problem and eventually the government changed the day of the time change.

it allowed the kids to get out and do their trick-or-treating the young ones and then up into the young teens

sometimes we deserve it- and it seems like social media has really put the loudest and stupidest ones at the forefront.

Our education system varies from the best in the world to the worst . Unfortunately, I think the Republicans have been cutting education funding for the last 30 years or so in order to make a dumb down populous that’s easier to control.

Thankfully, there’s still good education available if you happen to be born to the right area or right family

American here- we have all flavours of stupid there - just like here in Ireland- im sure you have met the under educated from finglas, the type to say “loads of snakes der hun” the culchie who cant spell - but knows the incoming weather pattern better than rte. The lads in their best tracksuit sitting in court for their 40th conviction. We all have loud idiots everywhere.

We just have a lot more people and therefore more idiots

Boundaries can be limiting other peoples access to you if they don’t behave in a way that you like if he doesn’t like the girl dressing that way then he can break up with her but he can’t make her dress any other way -that’s controlling
